About the Role:

Due to an opening in our service, we are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic Youth Justice Coordinator who will support the day to day running of the Youth Justice Services in Central Scotland.

Action for Children Scotland Youth Justice lead provides operational expertise and direct management of Youth Justice services across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Glasgow, South Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. The successful candidate will support and manage team of staff across a range of Youth Justice services, supporting Children and Young people 8yrs – 26yrs. You will grow and nurture new business development of Youth Justice services, providing the benchmark for positive outcome and to deliver on business development growth objectives.

This will require a flexible and responsive approach and will involve occasional working out with usual office hours when required. We also provide a telephone on call service which you will be part of which would be approx. 2 weeks in 16.

As a Youth Justice Co-ordinator, you'll be:

  • Leading on the reporting and recording of information and reports, and lead on the implementation of services, ensuring that they are compatible with service objectives.
  • Responsible for Budgetary responsibilities.
  • Involved with partnerships, steering groups, and strategic groups to help shape service delivery.
  • Leading the delivery of high-quality service, based on the agreed model, and required outcomes.
  • Providing direct line management of staff and supervision of Team Managers, while applying appropriate policies and procedures, alongside showing a commitment to staff continued learning and development.
  • Working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Working in an integrated way as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Our job description for the Youth Justice Co-ordinator outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are:

  • Experience of line managing staff is essential.
  • SVQ4 or equivalent experience through significant delivery in youth/criminal justice settings.
  • Post qualification experience of working with Youth Justice Justice system achieving positive outcomes through direct contribution with support activities and intervention.
  • Outreach working experience.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable families and a broad understanding of their barriers.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing methods of assessment and interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through presentations and reporting.
  • In depth experience and use of Microsoft office package.
  • Experience of working with and supporting Staff to work with complex child protection issues.
  • Driving licence and access to a car is desirable.
