Role

RNIB Scotland's Policy and Campaigns team is responsible for changing society and government policy to break down the barriers to equal participation for blind and partially slighted people in everyday life.

Working as part of an ambitious team, you’ll have lead responsibility for Public Realm & Transport policy, as well as continuing and supporting the wider policy & campaigns team.

You’ll work with blind and partially sighted people and stakeholders inside and outside RNIB to build our expertise on one or more policy topic(s), ensuring we have robust, evidence-based policy positions and solutions.

You’ll represent RNIB externally on your lead policy area(s), making interventions to make sure the needs of blind and partially sighted people are taken into account by government, business and the public.

You’ll have substantial experience in policy, campaigning or public affairs, with a track record of securing real change.

A proactive attitude is essential, along with an ability to cut through complex and detailed information to identify the key ways to make things better for blind and partially sighted people.

You’ll also understand how to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences in a variety of formats and have great attention to detail. You’ll be committed to ensuring lived experience drives the work you do.

In exchange we offer a competitive salary, a stimulating and supportive working environment and a benefits package including:

  • 26 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays – pro rata), which increase with service
  • Excellent pension schemes
  • RNIB Rewards - Our employee discounts platform gives you access to offers at over 800 in-store and online retailers
