The support and guidance of a strong group of Board Members is critical to enabling the Beacon to be Scotland’s most influential, accessible and entertaining arts venue. In order to drive the organisation forward and really serve the communities we work with, it’s crucial that our board has both breadth, and depth, of experience. It’s even more crucial that it’s made up of those who care deeply about the Arts. As Chair, my aim is to build on our existing board and enable the organisation to emerge from this extremely challenging period for the arts with vigour
and strength.
We are now on the look out for between two and four new members (also known as Trustees) who’ll have complementary strengths and backgrounds to help guide us successfully through the coming years. Please be reassured that it’s not critical to have previous Board experience to apply.
As an organisation we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and seek to create a Board which reflects our audience both locally in Inverclyde, and nationally in Scotland. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in the following areas: catering and hospitality, facilities management, press and PR, HR, fundraising, community engagement and artistic producing. Most importantly however, we would hope you have a passion for the arts and a keen interest in the events and activities of the Beacon itself.
We now wish to invite between two and four new members to join our current Board to support the next stage of the development of the Beacon Arts Centre.
We want to ensure the Board comprises the right mix of expertise and where possible, are keen to recruit candidates who have a skillset from or have worked in any of the following sectors:
• Press and PR
• HR
• Fundraising
• Community engagement, artistic programming/producing
• Facilities management
• Catering and hospitality
However, if you have skills in other areas and have energy and enthusiasm for the Arts,
we would still like to hear from you.
Beacon Arts Centre recognises its responsibility to support equality, diversity and inclusion in the cultural sector.
We welcome applicants of any gender, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation and from socio-economically
deprived or working class backgrounds. Due to current under-representation, we strive to increase membership from:
•Those aged 18-30
• Those resident in Inverclyde
• Women
• People of colour or from ethnic minority backgrounds
• Disabled people
• Trans or non-binary people
