For Cancer Research UK it’s vital that we drive policy change to achieve our ambition to see 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer by 2034. As the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world, we are in a unique position to influence health and research policy in the UK.

What will I be doing?

The successful candidate will assist supporting Cancer Research UK’s public affairs activities in Scotland including party conference planning and delivery, and briefing and liaising with politicians. They will also provide the secretariat to the Scottish Cancer Coalition, and support the running of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Cancer and the delivery of its Scottish Cancer Conference

Make an Impact Everyday by

Monitoring and collating of parliamentary intelligence

Assisting on briefing politicians on key policy issues and relevant parliamentary activities

Providing a full secretariat service to Cancer Coalition and supporting its activities

Logistical support for the Scottish Cancer Conference and CRUK’s presence at Scottish Political Party Conferences.

Who are we looking for?

Someone with...

  • A good understanding of politics and government in Scotland
  • Experience of event planning
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Be able to absorb information quickly

Ideally you’ll also be able to demonstrate experience of working with MSPs and civil servants, and an understanding of Cancer/Cancer Health Policy.
