Role

The Commission protects and promotes the human rights of people with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions.

We wish to appoint an Executive Director (Nursing). You will be a visionary, collaborative and strategic senior manager with the ability to influence and challenge key players in the mental health, learning disability and social care fields. This is an exciting time to join the Commission with the reviews of key legislation which we aim to influence and work with over the coming years.

You will lead a multidisciplinary practitioner team in the key functions of visits, investigations, advice and safeguarding to ensure we implement our strategic outcomes and ensuring compliance with law and promoting the principles of mental health, incapacity and adult support and protection Acts. In addition you must demonstrate a commitment to upholding the welfare and human rights of individuals.

You will be a key member of the Commission’s executive leadership team and attend Board meetings. In this role you will give advice to the executive team and Board and lead externally on mental health nursing more broadly.

We are also looking for a driven, enthusiastic leader with excellent relationship skills with the ability to combine strategic policy judgement and political awareness with experience of building, leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams.

We offer a comprehensive range of HR policies including policies to help balance commitments at work and home and flexible working arrangements.
