About our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) service
Aberlour is leading a new partnership with Highland Council, Barnardo’s Highland Services and Right There, to provide practical support, care and integration to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
This partnership focuses on three areas – feeling safe and settling in, support and integration and throughcare aftercare with the aim of improving the lives of young people by using a rights-based trauma informed approach. While also ensuring that the young people have access to education and learning opportunities.
As this new service has expanded we have need to appoint a Service Manager on a fixed term 12 month contract to continue to grow the service and help provide valuable outcomes for sustained funding.
What we are looking for....
You may be an established manager or experienced team leader looking to progress. You will be passionate about working to secure the best outcomes for young people.
You will lead a small team and co-ordinate the work of the partners to ensure that the children and young people’s needs are met, and the aims of the service are delivered. The team are tasked to engage with the young people to help them develop interpersonal and practical skills, confidence and self-esteem, problem solving and conflict resolving abilities enabling them to participate fully in having their needs met and development opportunities. Communication is key given that English is not the first language for these young people.
A further key role of the team is to liaise with Aberlour’s Guardianship Service to appoint a guardian and lawyer for the young people who will direct work to support young people through the asylum process.

You should hold a current full driving licence and have access to a car. Any mileage necessarily incurred would be reimbursed in accordance with our mileage allowances.
