The Director for Scotland is a key role at Carers Trust, leading our work across Scotland to ensure we deliver for unpaid carers and for local carer organisations. The postholder will have responsibility for taking forward and implementing our Scotland strategy, as part of our broader UK strategy ‘Building a Caring Society’. They will show visible leadership in relation to staff, funders and donors, partners and with the Scottish Government. They will be as comfortable in conversations about programme development and delivery, as they are with representing the organisation externally. We are looking for someone entrepreneurial, full of ideas and able to drive Carers Trust Scotland to achieve greater impact, whether with policymakers, grants or programmatic delivery.
What we are looking for
• Someone with significant leadership experience, likely to have been gained working with the voluntary and/or public sector
• Experience of engaging effectively with the Scottish Government, with a track record of work that has influenced public policy and practice in the Scottish context
• A sound grasp of programme development and delivery, able to ensure that we deliver evidence-based support for unpaid carers
• The ability to operate effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment, able to help lead and support a network of partner organisations
• An understanding and/or empathy of the challenges faced by unpaid carers, local carer organisations and of the wider health and social care context of our work
• A corporate team player, able to play a significant role within the UK organisation.
