Role

The Estates Manager is a key role on the islands and will oversee the management and maintenance of the properties, facilities and grounds on the islands.

The Estates Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of all physical assets, including buildings, grounds, facilities and infrastructure. They will forward plan, record and execute small to large scale repair projects in line with the agreed annual maintenance plans and budget.

The Estates Manager will have specific responsibility for:

  • The Iona Community Islands Estate comprises of 10 properties on Iona, including the residential accommodation for staff and volunteers, the Abbey and MacLeod Centres, and the Welcome Centre and shop, the Iona Post Office and the Iona Beach Hut, on Mull we have the Camas Youth Centre comprising two main buildings and a number of staff huts,, Camas garden and forest, 2 km track from main road to Camas, all grounds and facilities including as renewables such as a wind turbine and photovoltaic panels at Camas, and planned ground source heat pumps on Iona.

The vehicle pool consists of two vans and a boat. Electrical utility vehicles and people carrier are currently under consideration for purchase.
