We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Assistant to support the smooth running of Inspiring Scotland’s communication team. In this role you will provide support across a variety of projects and help deliver purposeful, creative, and engaging communications materials.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with some experience that is looking to be built upon Support and training can be provided, as most importantly we are looking for someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and team minded. Someone able to listen to colleagues’ varying needs; contribute ideas and work collaboratively to create solutions. You should be comfortable at organising your own time and adapting to priorities. You will have an awareness of communication activity and an interest in being creative and using this skill to help make communications stand out.

In this role you will work alongside the Communications Manager and be line managed by the Senior Communications Officer who are responsible for managing a wide range of activity for Inspiring Scotland. Alongside this team you will be able to work with a wide range of colleagues across the organisation and across policy areas such as equality and human rights, outdoor play, mentoring for children and young people and youth employability.

Role is office-based however you will be able to agree a work pattern which can include working from home. The role will involve travel to attend meetings and occasional events.

The role

SCVO are looking for two passionate and strategic individuals to join SCVO's Board of Trustees. This is a highly rewarding role, offering the chance to shape SCVO’s strategic direction and help shape the future of Scotland’s voluntary sector. You will contribute to high-level decision making, and support the leadership team, and safeguard SCVO’s long-term sustainability. Trustees will contribute to governance, compliance, and key organisational events, while ensuring adherence to legislation and robust financial controls. You will give strong strategic insight, an understanding of Scotland's voluntary sector, and a commitment to SCVO’s mission. This role requires a time commitment across quarterly meetings and key internal and external events such as The Scottish Charity Awards and The Gathering.

The person

The ideal candidates will have a strong belief in the value of the voluntary sector in Scotland and SCVO’s contribution to it. While previous experience as a trustee is beneficial, it’s not essential. Key qualities include strategic planning, performance monitoring, and effective team collaboration. Trustees should demonstrate good governance knowledge, sound judgement, and a values-driven approach. An understanding of the voluntary sector’s context in Scotland, coupled with the ability to challenge constructively and work collectively, is crucial to support SCVO’s mission and long-term vision.

We are delighted to bring you this new role!

In the coming year, we are growing our youth team and establishing a youth peer education project. This initiative involves recruiting and training young individuals on current health issues, enabling them to conduct harm-reduction workshops for their peers.

The coordinator will be responsible for leading the recruitment of young volunteers (ages 14 and up) and organizing their volunteering experiences. We seek someone passionate about engaging with youth and fostering their participation in the project. Strong organisational and communication skills, along with an understanding of young people's needs, are essential.

This role is part-time and we can offer 12-17.5 hours per week, normally afternoon/evening with some weekend work. The role is £13.50 per hour.

We would love to hear from you if you have experience of working in an environment with teenagers and can support the project to help them reach their potential. You would need to have excellent organisational skills and good digital/IT skills.

About the Organisation

The Phoenix is a Community Hub in Dumbarton West, it was set up in 2018 by Rock Community Church. The Rock is a vibrant church community serving Dumbarton and the surrounding area. The Phoenix is designed to primarily serve the people of Dumbarton West, namely the residents of Castlehill, Westcliff, and Brucehill. The Phoenix includes a community cafe and a wide and varied activities programme including youth work, toddler provision, adult learning, intergenerational events, art classes, fitness classes, wellbeing programme and volunteer opportunities.

Purpose of role:

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Family Support Worker Lead to help deliver exciting and engaging support working with the community, partners and the Phoenix Team.

You will build relationships and facilitate family support in the Dumbarton West community.

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and facilitate parent & child sessions both indoors and outdoors

● Facilitate issue-based workshops with both parents and children

● To plan, deliver and evaluate activities which support, connect and inspire children and families in Dumbarton West.

● To use a variety of approaches to consult and engage with our community

● To maintain up to date and accurate records of the support provided.

● To understand and abide by the organisations policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Data Protection, Confidentiality and Child Protection.

● Ensure non-discriminatory practices at all times in line with the organisations Equality and Diversity policy.

● To deliver parenting programmes

● Co deliver peer support groups with parents

● Provide one-to-one support sessions with families

● Support families within their own home as appropriate

● Take a proactive approach to own learning and development participating in relevant training & development opportunities

● Support the manager with funding applications concerning children & family work.

● Undertake training as required.

● Support major events within The Phoenix’s calendar alongside the staff team.
