About Us
Tiny Changes is Scotland’s first national young people’s mental health charity. We co-produce and run projects with young leaders that help young minds feel better. The charity was set up originally by the family of Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison, who took his own life in 2018. We believe that Scotland’s young people deserve great mental health, and we believe in their insight and innovation to make this possible. We exist to nurture the talent of young people to find creative solutions that work for them.
We are looking for people to join our Board of Trustees who have the experience and/or skills to step into an office bearer role either in 2027 or after a period of finding your feet on the Board - Secretary, Chair, or Treasurer. We are also looking for young trustees under 30, with or without office bearer experience. Trustees are responsible for the overall control and governance of the organisation. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to join a small Scottish charity and help improve its income and impact.
About You
You have knowledge and experience to bring to the Tiny Changes Board that you are confident will improve the sustainability and strategic direction of this small charity. You know the difference between governance and operations, and how to make the most of the relatively small amount of time you likely have to offer as a voluntary trustee. You have a can-do attitude and one of your strengths is that you know which questions to ask, and what level of risk to take with decisions and finances, at the right time.
We’re looking for Trustees who:
We are interested in hearing from people with skills in organisational leadership at chief executive or director level, financial management, fundraising and related marketing, equalities, HR and/or legal, youth-led movements and creative co-production, or non-clinical young people’s mental health services.
We particularly welcome applications from the following groups:

Glasgow-based mental health charity Common Wheel is seeking a Volunteer Trustee Treasurer to join its Board
Organisation profile
Our vision is that people with mental illness in Glasgow can live a meaningful and satisfying life and contribute to society.
Our mission is to improve mental wellbeing, increase skills and reduce isolation through the provision of supported, meaningful activities for people with mental illness and dementia.
Our values are Care, Equality, Positivity and Partnership
We currently provide four principal activities as well as “drop-in” sessions at various Glasgow locations:
We support people living in the local community, on hospital wards and in care homes. Over 500 people a year benefit from the work we do.
We will have an annual turnover of just under £300K and a permanent workforce of approximately seven staff, supported by volunteers and freelancers who help deliver our programmes.
Who are we looking for?
This is a volunteer role joining the existing Board of Trustees. The Treasurer will be a full trustee and will provide leadership and assurance on Common Wheel’s finances, while sharing collective responsibility for the charity’s governance and strategic direction.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with financial management, accounting or audit experience. A recognised accountancy qualification is welcome, but it is not essential where applicants can demonstrate strong financial literacy, sound judgement and experience of explaining financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
Experience of charity finance, governance, budgeting, risk management, reserves planning, payroll, funding or regulatory reporting would be valuable. The Treasurer should be collaborative and willing to work constructively with the Chair, Charity Manager, external Finance Manager, staff, trustees, independent examiner or auditor, and external advisers.
We welcome expressions of interest from younger candidates, women, people from ethnic minority communities, and disabled people, as we recognise our board would benefit from a greater diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
Knowledge or experience of the charity or community sector is desirable but not essential. Direct experience of the issues our charity seeks to address is also welcome but not essential.
Role profile
As a trustee, the Treasurer shares the Board’s collective responsibilities and leads its scrutiny of financial matters. Key responsibilities include:
The responsibilities of charity trustees in Scotland are set out in detail at oscr.org.uk/media/2728/v10_guidance-and-good-practice-for-charity-trustees.pdf
Time commitment
Board meetings typically take place on a Tuesday at 6pm each month and last for approximately 2 hours.
In addition, Trustees have historically taken part in an annual strategy development meeting, either at the weekend or extended evening session.
Trustees are also invited to join one of the sub-committees (currently focused on our bike project) or occasional working groups to suit their skills. These groups meet as and when necessary, at times to suit the members.
The Treasurer should also allow time between Board meetings to review management accounts, budgets, forecasts and year-end information; discuss material issues with the Chair and Project Manager; and liaise with the independent examiner or auditor. Additional time is likely around budget setting and preparation of the annual accounts.
Common Wheel is a small organisation supported by volunteers, so the Treasurer should be comfortable combining strategic oversight with occasional practical support, while respecting the distinction between governance and day-to-day management.
Expenses
All reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Scotland’s leading nature conservation charity is looking to co-opt a Trustee with knowledge and experience of nature conservation, land management practices and an understanding of relevant policy. This role includes being part of the Conservation Committee, a sub-committee which reports into our main Board of Trustees (“Council”) and provides vital oversight of conservation at the Trust.
For over 60 years, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has worked with its members, partners and supporters in pursuit of its vision of healthy, resilient ecosystems across Scotland’s land and seas. The Trust successfully champions the cause of wildlife through policy and campaigning work, demonstrates best practice through practical conservation and innovative partnerships, and inspires people to take positive action through its education and engagement activities. The Trust manages a network of over 100 wildlife reserves across Scotland and is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement.
Nature conservation has never been more important, and this is an exceptional opportunity to join a vibrant and committed Board of Trustees, which provides the governance function for the charity. Most members of Council are directly elected by the membership, but this will be a co-opted position.
The successful candidate will have:

What it Means to Be a Comics Youth SCIO Trustee
As a trustee, you will help support Comics Youth SCIO’s governance, strategic and financial planning, and contribute to a culture of care and creativity. You will work alongside other trustees and the staff team to ensure the organisation remains ethical, resilient and supportive to the people it serves.

Be part of our movement for change. We are excited to announce that we are seeking a board of trustees to support Each and Every Child through the next step in its development as a new independent charitable organisation - Each and Every Child SCIO.
Over the past 6 years, Each and Every Child has supported individuals and organisations across Scotland to change how they communicate about care and care experience in order to challenge unhelpful assumptions, stereotypes and mindsets around care and care experience that can further stigma and discrimination. In partnership with FrameWorks UK, we have shared insights into how we can effectively shift public ways of thinking, countering unhelpful and stigmatising mindsets and building support for solutions.
This is our next step. As a new, independent charity we aim to support the use of in-depth framing research and robustly evidenced insights combined with our experience of building relationships, providing advice, facilitating conversations and mobilising action to extend this work to other social issues impacting people’s lives. We will also ensure that our work to shift narratives around care experience continues to strengthen and adapt to new challenges.
We are looking to appoint a hands-on, passionate and values-driven board of trustees to support the leadership of the initiative at this crucial transition. We are also looking to appoint a Chair of the Board, a Treasurer and a Secretary. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a movement of change and support an exciting and ambitious programme of work that looks to change the story on social inequalities, now and into the future.
We are keen to hear from people who can bring new perspectives and experiences, and who are motivated to drive real change to improve the lives of children, young people and families across Scotland. We welcome applications from people of all abilities and backgrounds. These are voluntary positions, with expenses reimbursed.
The knowledge/experience we are seeking for all roles include:
· Lived or living experience of the impact of stigma and inequality on you and/or your family
· Understanding of care experience, trauma and other complex social issues impacting on children, young people and families across Scotland
· Operational experience of supporting children, young people or families, for example in health, social care, education or in the third sector
· Leadership or management experience
· Understanding of narrative change work, including raising awareness of social issues through communications, public affairs or campaigning
· Experience of community development and engagement
· Experience within education or training (with a range of contexts)
You do not need to have experience in all of these areas to apply – we welcome applications from people who have the passion to learn, support and contribute.
The skills and qualities we are seeking include:
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Ability to think strategically across the public and third sectors
· Approachable, open-minded and receptive to change
· Able to consistently attend meetings and make time to read papers in advance
· Understands information such as numerical data in reports and proposals
· Objectively analyses information, in the best interests of the charity, without allowing personal opinions to influence this
· Willing to speak up, ask questions and constructively and positively challenge themselves and others
· Acts collaboratively and supports collective decision making
Chair of the Board
We are seeking a passionate, skilled, supportive and experienced individual to chair the board of trustees at this exciting time for Each and Every Child. The Chair position will provide leadership to our board of trustees and will provide the line-management of the senior members of staff on the board’s behalf. We are looking for someone with confidence, ability and passion to lead a team, manage conflict and make clear decisions.
Treasurer
The Treasurer’s primary role is to assist and advise the board in overseeing the finances even if paid staff deal with much of the day-to-day financial business. Therefore, we are seeking someone with financial experience and an understanding of budgeting, forecasting and accountancy– ideally in the charity sector.
Secretary
The Secretary will provide administrative support to the board. We are seeking someone who is organised, practical and able to use day to day Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel. With a small staff team, the role of Secretary may be left vacant unless considered helpful once meetings are under way.
*We can be flexible around both the location and attendance format to accommodate the needs of our new trustees. Hybrid meetings will be considered for applicants from across Scotland.
