About the Role

The Advice Officer – Energy will offer support to people in need of energy advice who are residing in the communities served by WSHA. The Advice Worker – Energy plays an integral role in our offer of support and will be expected to embrace a holistic approach to supporting customers. This support aims to positively impact the capacity of individuals and households by assisting them to sustain their home through the provision of practical, accessible and person-centred energy advice services.

This approach focuses on prevention and early intervention by helping customers to reduce fuel poverty, understand and manage household energy use, access appropriate tariffs and payment options, improve confidence in dealing with suppliers, and connect to wider support including income maximisation, debt advice and hardship funding where appropriate

You will play a key role in:

  • Providing energy advice services to people individually and in group settings through home visits, accessible community settings, digital platforms, information events, office appointments and telephone enquiries
  • Supporting customers to understand energy bills, compare tariffs, consider switching suppliers where appropriate, and make informed choices about safe and affordable energy options.
  • Support vulnerable households to better understand and manage household energy systems and appliances, including heating controls, thermostats, boiler programming, meter issues and condensation, helping them to maintain a safe, warm and energy-efficient home
  • Maximising customer income and household resilience by identifying and applying for grant funding to provide energy vouchers, funds towards energy bills and funds to help clear energy debt.

About You

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly, accurately and sensitively
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Teams and case recording or database systems such as Advice Pro
  • Experience of delivering energy advice, information, guidance and support directly to customers individually and in group settings
  • Experience of working with individuals to develop outcomes-based support plans which promote household resilience, reduce fuel poverty and support wellbeing
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy bills, metering, tariffs, supplier switching and available grants, rebates and wider assistance schemes

The role will also involve supporting the day-to-day running of the food bank, monitoring stock levels, coordinating resources where required, and ensuring all services are delivered in line with the charity’s dignity-led approach.

You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of monthly sales events, seasonal campaigns, and community engagement activities, helping to maximise the impact of the charity’s work while supporting operational continuity across all service areas.

The successful candidate will have proven experience within an operational management or coordination role, together with demonstrable experience of leading and supporting staff teams. You will be highly organised, solutions-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with clients, volunteers, donors, colleagues, and external partners.

The Role:

The Student Opportunities Officer (International) leads on the Students’ Association’s work to empower student leaders and groups to deliver engaging and inclusive activities for international students and non-international students who are interested in cultural exchange, with the goal of creating a community of truly global citizens.

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Hub Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our Carers’ Hub while helping us prepare for the future.

This is a key hands-on position within our organisation – The Hub Manager will lead a small team of support workers to deliver services that will improve the lives of unpaid carers in the East End of Glasgow.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with the Homecare Manager to develop the organisation’s potential and expand the services on offer to carers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the provision of all services for carers provided by the Hub ensuring that the delivery of these services is to the highest standard and in accordance with the Carers’ Strategy.
  • Prepare and agree with Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors Strategic and Operational Plans that prioritise work and provide performance indicators and measurable outcomes.
  • Manage the identification of ways of enhancing support and service provision for carers, which are responsive to the needs of carers within the area served.
  • Manage and play an active role in the Hub’s activities and events to support carers and increase awareness of the Carers Hub within the catchment area.
  • Lead the promotion of increased training opportunities for carers and facilitate the delivery of training by agencies involved in supporting carers.
  • Ensure all the Carers Hub employees always show a commitment to equal opportunities policies.
  • Ensure the ongoing financial stability of the centre and while completing grant applications to maximise fundraising, allowing the Hub to provide more opportunities for carers.
