Role Summary

We are recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our Recreation Programme, supporting young adults to take part in a wide range of community-based activities.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will actively take part in activities while providing person-centred support to help individuals engage, achieve and enjoy new experiences.

You will support our Recreation Programme groups, who take part in full-day outings and activities each week.

The focus of the programme is to:

This role involves being active, engaged, and hands-on, supporting individuals in real-world environments.

We are seeking a warm, motivated and reliable Support Worker to join our In-House Recreation Programme on a one-day-per-week basis.

The group meets weekly at our Cupar base (10:00am – 4:00pm). There may also be opportunities to work additional ad hoc hours, including evenings or other activity days.

About you

You are a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who is an experienced in the provision of housing support (min. 3 years) or similar. You will support the implementation of our Vision and Mission, applying our Values to deliver the safety, health, comfort, and welfare of residents in line with the Care Inspectorate’s Health and Social Care Standards.

You are an effective communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work as part of a team, knowledge of housing support, welfare rights and benefit issues, HMO and policies and procedures.

It is essential that you have or are willing to work towards achieving an SVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent qualification or above, as approved by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for this grade of post within 18 months of commencement, secure and maintain registration with the SSSC.

Summary purpose of job

The Housing Support Worker proactively delivers housing support to our Veterans as part of a team.

Main responsibilities

• To undertake intensive housing support and other forms of support with vulnerable veterans who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness.
• Proactively support veterans into permanent accommodation.
• Support the stability of a veteran where they are unable to move to other accommodation.
• Carry out duties in accordance with our Vision, Values and Mission.
• Ensure compliance with General Data Protection Regulations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety & risk management requirements.
• Work effectively as a team member.
• Supporting all colleagues to ensure residents abide by the terms of occupancy, taking appropriate action in conjunction with other teams where necessary.

Housing Support responsibilities

• Responsible for the proactive delivery of intensive housing support and other support services to allocated caseload of veterans in line with the Care Inspectorate’s Health & Social Care Standards.
• Support Veterans to comply with their terms of occupancy including any arrears, antisocial behaviour, or any other issue.
• Responsible for working with veterans to agree their housing support plan, including goals, risk assessments and reviews using provided tools.
• Support Veterans to maximise income and state benefits including housing benefit.
• Support veterans to manage their finances and debts effectively to meet their goals.
• Support veterans to maximise their future housing options, including assisting veterans to secure furnishing grants, etc.
• Support Veterans to access training, education and employment.
• Support veterans to secure health services to meet their physical and mental health needs.
• Support veterans to address addiction issues.
• Signpost and refer to other specialist services.

General responsibilities

• Comply with staff handbook.
• If required, participate in on call arrangements for out of office hours support.
• Comply with PPE and lone worker requirements.
• Register with the Scottish Social Services Council and comply with their code of conduct for employees.

Home-Start Clackmannanshire is a long standing, dynamic charity, striving to ensure every young child (under 12) has the best possible start in life locally. Raising a family has never been easy; our trained volunteers and staff are there to support families through challenging times.

In Scotland, Home-Starts have over 1,500 volunteers supporting over 3,500 families and 6,500 children each year through compassionate, confidential help to parents/carers when they need us most. The parents/carers we support are often overwhelmed and isolated. They may be struggling with mental health, illness, disability, multiple births, poverty, domestic abuse, separation and/or trauma.

Purpose of the job

Our Family Support Workers are central to the support services we offer our local families. We are looking for a warm, proactive and reliable personal assistant/ support worker to support a young woman with several health and mobility needs to live an active, meaningful life in her community.

About the role:

This role involves supporting her to take part in the activities she enjoys as well as build on her physical fitness. Regular activities include swimming, golf range, bowling and finding the best coffee shops in the area! As her Christian faith is an important part of her life, you would be supporting her to attend church services and midweek activities.

You will provide practical support with her mobility as she uses a wheelchair, as well as supporting her psychologically and emotionally to transition into different parts of the day and keeping her safe.

A two week working pattern is in place:

• Week A: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10am-3pm, Thursday 10am-5pm
• Week B: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10am-3pm, Thursday 5.45pm-9.45pm,Sunday 5.45pm-8.45pm

On occasions this may change, with plenty notice given. The hours can be made flexible, which can be discussed at interview.
