Scottish Recovery Consortium

Recovery Development Work – Gambling Harms

Scottish Recovery Consortium (SRC) is looking for a proactive, self-motivated team player to be part of an exciting development in partnership with the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP). ACHSCP and SRC were successful in a funding bid through the Gambling Levy Fund, and we now have the opportunity to create a post that will specifically develop a Gambling Harm Recovery Network (GHRN) across Aberdeen City. Scottish Recovery Consortium will host this post (initially for 1 year) with the potential to extend for another three years. SRC will have an integral role in the project, providing ongoing development work and specialist expertise.

The project aims to create a learning, adaptive, person centred system of support for gambling harms in Aberdeen City. It operationalises national recommendations, leverages local assets, embeds trauma informed and lived experience driven approaches, and builds a more coherent, equitable, and responsive system of care. Through this work, ACHSCP and SRC will reduce unmet need and move closer to the national vision for a public health-led, person-centred response to gambling harms.

As an employee of the Scottish Recovery Consortium (SRC), the post holder will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, who has overall responsibility for the SRC element of this project. The successful post holder will have a unique opportunity to work directly with the Community and Prisons-based teams within SRC and, externally, with a range of partners across Aberdeen City, including ACHSCP.

The role involves designing, developing and delivering a local GHRN across Aberdeen City. The postholder will work alongside people with lived and living experience, communities, statutory services and the third sector to strengthen recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and rights-based responses to gambling harms.

This is a role in the north of Scotland, requiring travel across Aberdeen City. There is also an expectation that you will attend SRC monthly staff team meetings in our Glasgow office and any others relevant to organisational work and development. Your role will be to:

  • Asset map the current gambling support across Aberdeen City
  • Identify gaps in provision
  • Lead the development, design, delivery and coordination of a local GHRN.
  • Build strong working relationships with partners to ensure the collaborative success of the project

CEMVO Scotland is a national intermediary organisation and strategic partner of the Scottish Government Equalities Directorate. With a network of over 600 ethnic minority (EM) organisations throughout Scotland, our aim is to build the capacity of the ethnic minority voluntary sector and its communities.

We have initiated a new exciting 4-year project “Mobilising Community Action Scotland” (MCAS) in partnership with Changeworks and The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park with funding through The National Lottery Community Fund.

The overall aim of MCAS is to increase awareness and empower EM communities to adopt nature positive and energy saving behaviours in their everyday lives.

We already have a good MCAS team in place and now looking to recruit the following post:

Financial Administrator

Responsible to: Chief Executive & Head of Operations & Resources

Salary & Hours: Part-Time, 21 hrs per week, £24,480PA (£14,687 pro-rata) + 4% pension

We are seeking a financial administrator with at least 3 years financial administration experience to undertake day to day financial administration of the MCAS project budget. You will provide regular financial updates on project spend to the MCAS co-ordinator and also work closely with CEMVO financial officer in day to day financial administration of MCAS, in supporting financial monitoring and reporting to the National Lottery Community Fund and in undertaking general financial administration tasks for both MCAS and CEMVO. You will also provide general administrative support to the MCAS project team when needed.

You will require a high level of book-keeping and financial administration experience with a working knowledge of Excel or Access packages. You will also require experience in producing financial reports, assisting with audit processes and processing internal and external invoicing aswell as good general administrative skills.

GNWCAB’s Board of Directors are looking for four new Directors to work alongside other board members to oversee and support our Chief Executive and our dynamic team of staff and volunteers. Later this year, we will be moving premises and we are seeking to expand our Board to support this process and our onward development. At this important point in our journey, we are seeking Directors who can bring different perspectives to help the Bureau achieve its plans for the future and provide the most relevant and accessible advice services possible.

The Board is currently made up of seven Directors, each offering a different skillset that can support the governance needs and development aims of the organisation. We welcome applications from anyone who feels passionate about our work, regardless of professional background.

The Board has identified an upcoming skills gap related to third sector fundraising and governance, and we hope to fill one of the four roles with someone who has experience of this kind. We would encourage applicants with this background to also consider joining our Finance, Risk, and Audit Committee (FRAC).

For the remaining three roles, we encourage candidates of all kinds, particularly those with strong knowledge of and connections to north west Glasgow. Most important to us is finding candidates who fit our values and our organisation. We are looking for people who are approachable, transparent, team players, positive influencers and who are willing to contribute to debate.

GNWCAB’s staff team, volunteers and clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and widening access and inclusion is central to our mission and our values. We want our Board to be representative of our local community and so would welcome approaches from people who live locally or have lived experience of issues facing our clients. We encourage applications from groups that are under-represented on charity boards, particularly people from Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic communities, as well as young and Disabled people.

We happily welcome applications from people who have not been senior volunteers or sat on a board before. Lived experience of care service provision and/or the Northeast of Glasgow where the organisation is based and primarily delivers services and support, is valued, alongside skills or expertise in other areas such as governance, HR, fundraising, marketing and communications, community partnership working, social care delivery, safeguarding or risk management.

Previous board experience is not essential as a board induction programme will be provided with support from existing trustees, the Chief Executive and staff team, and we welcome informal discussions or a visit to our office to hear more about the role and its requirements prior to application.

The trustee role is an unpaid voluntary role, with reasonable expenses available and reimbursed in line with policy. Board meetings are currently held every six weeks on a Tuesday afternoon, with a finance and resource subgroup held the Thursday prior to the board meeting. Meetings can be attended online or in person to accommodate trustee’s diary availability and remove any barriers to participating.

The Rees Foundation is a national charity based in Worcestershire that seeks to support adults who have, at some stage in their lives, been in foster care or residential care. The role

The role of a Trustee is to ensure that the charity fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on its vision, mission and values. The Board of Trustees are jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities, and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

Our Board currently comprises members with a variety of skills in social care, strategic planning, finance and business.

As we have recently extended our registration to operate in Scotland, we are particularly keen to strengthen Scottish representation on our Board. We would welcome applications from individuals who have:

  • Experience or professional understanding of the Scottish charity governance framework and OSCR regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Scottish care system, including transitions, aftercare, or leaving-care support in a Scottish context.
  • Connections to communities or organisations across Scotland that can help us better serve care-experienced adults in the region.

We would especially welcome applications from people who have professional knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:

Specific Duties:

Leadership and Strategic Direction

  • To bring fresh thinking and ideas to the Trustees discussion, enhancing the boards effectiveness and St Joseph’s ability to deliver its charitable Homes.

Ensuring Policies and Procedures are in keeping with St Joseph’s aims and objectives

  • To ensure robust and comprehensive policies and procedures are in place which meet the charity objectives and safeguard the people living in the accommodation, staff and the organisation.

Safeguarding Ethos and Values

  • Safeguarding and promotion of the Vincentian Ethos and the particular Vincentian Values of the organisation.

Ensuring Best Practice

  • To fulfil the Trustee’s legal and financial responsibilities – ensuring risk and compliance is appropriately managed.
  • To purchase suitable properties – based upon the needs of the people requiring accommodation.
  • At all times to ensure the financial viability of any potential purchase.
  • To ensure that any property is affordable for the tenants.
  • To maintain partnership and good relations with the Chief Executive, staff members and the people we accommodate.
  • To be an active member of the Board and as appropriate, any of its Sub-Committees and Working Groups
  • To ensure St Joseph’s Homes complies with all appropriate regulatory and statutory bodies: Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and Companies House.
  • To monitor Health and Safety compliance, ensuring the properties are well maintained and meet all relevant statutory requirements ensuring staff members, volunteers and People we support live and work in a safe and healthy environment.

Commitment:

Four Trustee meetings are held annually. Trustees may also be asked to chair / sit on organisational sub-committees.

Meetings are held in St Joseph’s Homes Head Office, in Rosewell, Midlothian. These meetings are conducted in hybrid fashion: you may choose to join either in person or by video call.

Person Specification:

St Joseph’s Homes is a charity registered in Scotland, private limited company and is a subsidiary of St Joseph’s Services. St Joseph’s Services have supported people in Midlothian and Edinburgh since 1924, over recent years they have struggled to access suitable properties for the people that they support as there is a shortage of accessible accommodation. St Joseph’s Homes exists to ensure that adults with a Learning Disability are able to live in a property that meets their needs, we believe everyone should have a home.
