Shakti is a feminist Black Minority Ethnic voluntary organisation which offers information, advocacy, emotional/practical support and refuge/temporary accommodation to all Black Minority Ethnic women and their children, who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse.

The post holder ideally be a bilingual speaker in one of the BME community languages; preferably Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese or other South Asian or East Asian languages and will support Black and Minority Ethnic women, their children (if any), and young people who are experiencing and/ or fleeing domestic abuse due to their sexuality and/ or gender identity. The applicant will ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. Must have good knowledge and understanding of equalities issues and the issues affecting BME and/ or LGBT women, children, and young people; understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding domestic abuse, honour-based abuse such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation, and their effects on Black Minority Ethnic women, their children, and young people.

Shakti is a feminist Black Minority Ethnic (BME) voluntary organisation which offers information, advocacy, emotional/practical support and refuge/temporary accommodation to all Black Minority Ethnic women and their children, who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse. These positions offer an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing guidance, advocacy, and resource coordination. The ideal applicant will possess strong organisational skills, leadership qualities, and experience in social services or related fields. A background in public health, teaching, or administrative roles is highly desirable. These roles involve managing case files, developing support plans, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.

The post holder will support BME women, their children and young people experiencing and/or fleeing domestic abuse or forced marriage. Applicants will ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with BME Communities and hold a minimum of SVQ Level III (SCQF Level 6 or above) in Social Care or relevant qualification such as degree in Social Work or Community Education and be speakers of a BME community language; preferably Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Arabic or African or East Asian languages . Applicants must have sound knowledge and understanding of equalities issues and the issues affecting BME women, children, and young people, understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding BME specific Gender-Based violence, domestic abuse, honour-based abuse such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation, and their effects on BME women, their children, and young people.

Children and Young People’s Family Court Advocacy Worker

We are delighted to announce that Glasgow Women’s Aid is launching a new family court advocacy service for women and children who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Thanks to funding from the national lottery community fund, we will have a dedicated worker for both women and their children who have been impacted by domestic abuse and are involved in civil family court processes such as court ordered contact. This new service will build on the support that we already offer to women and children.

Are you passionate about children’s rights? Do you enjoy working directly with children and young people and have experience supporting those affected by trauma? We are looking for a Children’s Family Court Advocacy Worker to join our team and provide dedicated support to children and young people whose families are involved in civil family court proceedings due to domestic abuse.

You will provide child-centred, trauma informed support to help children understand family court processes in an age-appropriate way, and ensure their voices and experiences are recognised. This will compromise of one-to-one support and the facilitation and creation of age-appropriate group work and peer support. You will work with others and signpost to appropriate agencies where necessary to ensure children’s safety and wider well-being throughout the court process.

This role requires someone who is confident communicating complex information in a child friendly way and who understands the impact domestic abuse has on children and young people. You will have a clear understanding of children’s rights and use this knowledge to empower children to express their views and advocate on their behalf to ensure their wishes and rights are heard.

As part of the role, you will be required to participate within our Crisis Support and work out of hours to support.

It is essential that you have experience of supporting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse or gender-based violence. A qualification relevant to working with children and young people, such as SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People), is required. A degree or post graduate qualification in a relevant field is desirable with a willingness to work towards a qualification in relation to advocacy.

The nature of our work requires a commitment to the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and to the values of Glasgow Women’s Aid. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you have a driving license and access to a car.

Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire (WASLER) have delivered domestic abuse services across South Lanarkshire for more than 30 years. We provide an outstanding level of service provision to support the needs of women, children and young people who have experienced, or are presently experiencing domestic abuse.

We are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced, qualified and skilled woman to fulfil the role of Specialist Worker within our Refuge team - 22.5 hours per week

The Specialist Worker – Refuge will provide a high quality and specialist support service to women living in Refuge working to ensure their safety and recovery. Applicants must also be qualified to SVQ level 3, or equivalent in a relevant qualification and registered (or willing to register) with SSSC. We have a great opportunity for a female worker to join our highly regarded DDAS service (Dundee Domestic Abuse Service).

We are looking for Applicants that are committed, enthusiastic, motivated and have excellent communication skills and able to work in a collaborative manner, evidencing a respectful, relational, trauma informed and inclusive approaches. You will be creative, innovative, adaptable and dynamic and able to ensure high quality delivery of person-centred and robust services to women and girls experiencing domestic abuse and their children.

Dundee Domestic Abuse Service is a partnership between Barnardo's and Dundee Women's Aid, providing a service to women and children experiencing domestic abuse across Dundee. Our aims are to work towards the reduction and prevention of domestic abuse and enable women and children to live without the fear of domestic violence and abuse; to work in partnership with a range of multiagency partners and collaboratively within Dundee's Protecting People structure to provide women experiencing domestic abuse and their children with accessible high-quality services. The successful post holder will be based within Barnardo's Dundee, covering Dundee city. We are looking for applicants who are experienced in undertaking risk assessments; safety planning; providing emotional and practical support; and committed to enabling and capacity building and awareness raising as part of a multiagency approach.

Applicants must be willing to work flexibly around the needs of our services users and have a driving licence and have access to a car. They must have a relevant professional qualification/ or work experience. Across our partnership organisations we are committed to providing opportunities of learning and development and access to quality supervision.
