Dr Scott Arthur, MP Edinburgh South West is seeking a dedicated Constituency Engagement Officer to support local constituents and advocate for their rights. As a key member of the MP’s constituency office team in Edinburgh the officer will lead community-facing activities and events, monitor local issues and determine responses. The role involves developing a strong understanding of local communities, representing the MP at meetings when needed, advocating on behalf of communities, and ensuring the MP’s work reflects constituent priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve the people of Edinburgh South West.
  • Part of the MP’s team working alongside two senior caseworkers in the MP’s Edinburgh constituency office, the community engagement officer is expected to proactively engage with community issues on behalf of the MP and address community focused casework issues.
  • Manage the MP’s constituency diary commitments.
  • Represent the MP at community council meetings when needed
  • Manage a large caseload of constituent cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring, and sensitive manner.
  • Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
  • Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents - by e-mail, telephone, social media, and face-to-face.
  • Develop knowledge in specialist casework areas including housing, planning, immigration, health services and the benefits system.
  • Handle administrative arrangements for MP surgeries/community coffee mornings/other events – this may include venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required.
  • Attend and assist at MP surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
  • Proactively communicate with constituents regarding local issues, including assisting in the updating of social media on request.
  • Ensure that all cases and decisions are properly documented, writing clear concise reports containing analysis of the evidence, explanation of the findings and conclusions, and a robust and appropriate action plan, to include ongoing monitoring and communication procedures where required.
  • Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
  • Supervise other staff as required.
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.

About the Role:

As a Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a team in providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for the people who use our services. You’ll do this by providing practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives.

The Role of a Trustee

Our Trustees play a vital role in three key areas: Strategy, Governance and Risk Management.

Right now we’re particularly keen to add to the existing financial skills of our Board, ideally welcoming someone with Management Accounting expertise, especially within SMEs or social enterprises. Someone with experience of being a charity treasurer would be highly beneficial.

That said, we’d love to hear from anyone who shares our values and brings experience in areas like fundraising, communications, enterprise, wellbeing, or facilities management.

Do I have to live in Edinburgh?

Not at all! We welcome applications from potential Trustees living anywhere. However, there is a requirement to attend an in-person Board meeting in Edinburgh once every two months. Attendance online can be arranged under special circumstances.

Our Trustees fall into two categories:

  • Local Trustees: People living in South West Edinburgh, or within three miles of EH11 3RH.
  • Business Trustees: People who do not live locally who join the Board to offer specific skills, expertise or professional experience.

Your Commitment

We truly value your time and experience, and we keep the commitment meaningful but manageable:

  • Board meeting every two months in Edinburgh (2hrs in person)
  • Sub-group meeting every three months (60-90 mins online)
  • Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh (90mins in person)
  • One Trustee Strategy Building Day per year (5-6hrs in person

Trustee Induction & Training

We provide a comprehensive induction and ongoing training programme to support all trustees in their role. This includes sessions on our governance structure, key policies, finance & budgeting, health & safety, safeguarding, and an overview of our current projects and strategic priorities.

Trustees also take part in regular development sessions throughout the year.

All new trustees have the option to be buddied up with an existing trustee while they find their feet.

The Service

Our Older Persons' Service addresses loneliness and social isolation among older people through volunteer befriending, social cafes, and our Help to Stay at Home service.

The Job

The Older Persons Service promotes social inclusion opportunities for isolated and lonely vulnerable older people, by providing 1:1 support in people’s own homes. Many of these older people have a dementia diagnosis and the regular contact that this service will bring will make a real difference to their day-to-day life. Older people will ideally benefit emotionally through shared interests and experiences with their matched staff member and also through practical assistance, such as help with transport to Health Services, including GP, dentist and hospital appointments, collection of prescriptions, support to attend appointments, shopping trips and social outings.

The purpose of the job is to provide this much-needed light touch support to our elderly service users while working closely with the project workers and volunteers to support the people who receive our services to become engaged and included within their communities.

About You

You will have good computer skills and the ability to use technology efficiently to maintain and update records, combined with a knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting older people, including dementia. The successful candidate will be able to work openly and honestly in a team setting and have an ability to prioritise their own caseload.

A valid driver's license and access to a car that can be used daily to travel between services as required is essential for this role.

The Service

LinkLiving’s HoME service (Help on Managing Everything) provides an intensive housing management service to Link Housing Association tenants who are struggling to maintain their tenancies.

The Job

The purpose of the job is to provide practical and emotional support to people who have been referred to the service who’s condition of property requires specialist support. Through building positive relationships with tenants, you will work with them to maintain their home, working closely with Housing Officers as well as the wider Mental Health & Wellbeing Services team.

You will be responsible for the provision of individually tailored one to one support. The service you provide will focus on the safety and well-being of clients creating a supportive environment which to address the issues they are experiencing with their tenancy. This role will require a high level of multiagency working.

About You

You’ll be someone with a good standard of general education. With a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with complex needs, you will have experience supporting clients with a range of issues and demonstrate a strong grasp of the skills required to live independently.

Your positive, can-do attitude will shine through in your hands-on approach to providing practical support, while your non-judgemental mindset and commitment to embracing diversity will be at the heart of how you work. You’ll bring excellent communication skills—written, verbal and digital—and be comfortable using IT systems, including online client management platforms.

You will have knowledge of available grants and resources for individuals on low incomes. Adaptability is key, as is the ability to build meaningful relationships and partnerships with other voluntary and statutory organisations.

You’ll be a proactive team player who can work openly and honestly within a team setting, while also being confident in prioritising and managing both your own workload. Reflective practice will be important to you—you’ll welcome feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement in your work.

We are seeking to recruit a Public Appointments Support Officer (PASO). The main purpose of the PASO will be to deliver a range of activities supporting the Public Appointments Manager and the Public Appointments Officer. The role reports to the Public Appointments Officer.

The PASO will be expected to provide high quality administrative and communications support to the Commissioner's public appointments team, and wider office. Excellent communications skills will be required to deal with the diversity of people who contact the office, and an early and effective contribution will be necessary.

The successful applicant will be able to work independently to deliver a range of administrative support services such as:

o Inputting data onto and managing databases

o Setting up and running surveys

o Overall responsibility for our email filing system and

o Records management processes.

Scottish Opera is Scotland’s national opera company and the country’s largest performing arts organisation. Founded in 1962 to make opera accessible to all, the company presents productions of international acclaim, from early works to world premieres. Performances are designed to be inclusive, with supertitles, audio-described and dementia-friendly shows, free and discounted tickets for under-26s, refugees, asylum seekers and schools, and touring productions reaching communities across Scotland. The charity is looking for an experienced fundraiser to lead the team across a period of maternity leave. The Individual Giving team look after donors across philanthropy, corporate, members and legators. Internally this role is called the Head of Individual Giving, the job title has been amended for this selection process to reflect the broader remit of the role beyond regular donors.

The post holder will, in conjunction with the Director of Development, set and embed Scottish Operas Individual Giving strategy and will personally solicit gifts and steward key donors, whilst supporting and overseeing the work of the Individual Giving team.

There are some fantastic projects in the works that Scottish Opera can use to engage donors, and there is brilliant internal buy in and understanding of fundraising. Income performance is strong, so there are solid foundations from which to test and trial new ideas.

This role has wide ranging appeal. Scottish Opera are happy to consider candidates for whom this role might be an exciting step up to managing multiple income streams beyond one specialist area, but equally this would be an engaging role for an experienced Head of looking to work in an exciting arts charity, taking their income success to the next level.

Working within an arts and culture charity would be helpful for the candidate to have but isn't essential.
