Are you passionate about children’s wellbeing and education? Edinburgh School Uniform Bank (ESUB) are seeking new Trustees with a diverse range of skills and experience. With demand soaring, ESUB has grown substantially but remains focused on supporting the inclusion and wellbeing of children and young people who are facing hardship.

You would be joining an award-winning charity board, recognised for bold and innovative use of resources to ensure the best outcomes for young people. If you remember what it was like to be ashamed of your appearance at school or remember the smell of poverty from a fellow classmate, then you know that clothing matters. You would be part of a team committed to improving the life chances of Edinburgh youngsters.

Our Trustees oversee the charity’s operational, regulatory and financial governance. Training and support will be offered to all new trustees to ensure all board members can thrive and contribute to steering the future direction of the organisation.

Operations Assistant

ESUB is an award-winning charity based in Edinburgh. We support families experiencing hardship by providing school uniform and other essentials so that children and young people can go to school with dignity and confidence, fitting in with their peers and ready to make the best of their education.

ESUB is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Operations Assistant to work closely with the small staff team and a busy group of volunteers. We are based in the Granton area of Edinburgh, and some travel in and around Edinburgh will be required. We welcome applications from individuals with transferable administrative and logistics skills and experience gained in a work, volunteering or personal capacity. If you genuinely have an eye for detail and are committed to superlative customer service then we would love to hear from you.

The Position:

To assist with the day to day running of the charity including:

  • Supporting outreach activities to make school uniform available in local communities in a dignified and accessible way.
  • Assisting in the provision of packs of new school uniform via referrals.

The Operations Assistant will need use of their own vehicle to travel in and around Edinburgh as part of the role. Please note that this post is not suitable for working from home.

Our Benefits:

  • Base salary up to £22,000 (pro rata) dependent on experience
  • Family-friendly working hours (16 hours per week, ideally 10am to 2pm Monday to Thursday, subject to discussion)
  • Provision of work laptop and mobile phone
  • 25 days per year annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
  • Initial 12 month contract, renewable subject to funding.

We are based in the Crewe Toll area of Edinburgh, and some travel in and around Edinburgh will be required. We welcome applications from individuals with transferable administrative and logistics skills and experience gained in a work, volunteering or personal capacity. If you genuinely have an eye for detail and are committed to superlative customer service then we would love to hear from you.

The Position:

• To be responsible for aspects of the day to day running of the charity;

• The main focus will be on stock control and purchasing, both online and in person at various stores;

• Other tasks will include sorting and recording donations, packing bags of uniform, delivering uniform around the city and various other activities.

• To work within budget guidelines, and maintain data and provide reports on stock and expenditure

• The Operations Assistant will need use of their own vehicle to travel in and around Edinburgh as part of the role.

Our Benefits:

• Base salary up to £22,000 (pro rata) dependent on experience;

• Provision of work laptop and mobile phone;

• 25 days per year annual leave plus 8 public holidays (pro-rata);

• Potential to consider fixed hours or annualised hours (ESUB is much busier in the summer than other times of year)

• Initial 12 month contract, renewable subject to funding.
