Community Alliance Trust (CAT) is a development trust, and is a non-profit distributing organisation set up by the Community Regeneration Forum in 2011 to develop community assets and new social enterprise initiatives in the Craigmillar area and improve the quality of life of Craigmillar residents.

Community Alliance Trust is a development trust serving Greater Craigmillar. We bring together individuals and organisations to identify need and advocate for positive local change.

As part of our work, we host and run a variety of services from The White House supporting local people.

Purpose of the post

This role is a key part of a small team delivering community development initiatives throughout the Greater Craigmillar area.

The post holder will be responsible for our finance payments and procedures, including payroll and pensions.

The post-holder will be responsible for core administration tasks and will provide cross-team administrative support, as required.

Main Activities

Finance:

  • Hold primary responsibility for the payment system, to ensure all providers are paid in good time
  • Accurately record and process all income and expenditure, including invoices and expenses
  • Be responsible for preparing monthly payroll information, including calculating pension salary sacrifice payments to ensure that all employees are paid accurately each month
  • Provide support to the Trust Manager during budget preparation and year-end audit
  • Provide advice on process improvements to all aspects of the finance system.

Administration:

  • Manage the office environment and be the first point of contact for telephone and in-person enquiries
  • Manage procurement and delivery of office supplies and services
  • Manage documentation and incoming/outgoing communication
  • Support project work administration and website content, as required
  • Provide administrative support to the wider team, as necessary
