Our main priorities are;

·Driving Environmental Initiatives

Encouraging waste reduction, resource reuse, and recycling within the community; promoting energy efficiency, encouraging sustainable transportation options, developing friendly green spaces, supporting local food production.

·Improving Community Health and Wellbeing

Building connections, reducing social isolation, improving mental and physical health and well-being, increasing learning and skill-building.

·Facilitating Community Engagement

Empowering residents to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to create community benefit and capacity-building.

Our staff and volunteers are all local people focusing on projects prioritised by local people. By coming together, we want to access the resources needed to help develop strong, inclusive and meaningful projects that give the community a sense of purpose and value and build confidence that they can take into all areas of their lives.Annually, we engage with over 3000 people through our activities, improving the environment, people’s health and wellbeing and strengthening our communities.

Job Purpose:

This role will act as the project lead, to encourage local involvement and behavioural change around sustainable active travel. You will be responsible for staff and volunteer management, stakeholder management, budgets and monitoring and evaluation.

Embedded within Linlithgow Community Development Trust (LCDT), you will be part of the development and delivery of events to promote a culture of Active Travel both within and around the West Lothian Cycle Circuit. You will work with partners and staff to lead on all aspects of the active travel project, coordinating and supporting a facility programme that adds value to other cycling, walking and wheeling related activities within West Lothian.

You will ensure a programme of activities are delivered in the heart of the communities and at the West Lothian Cycle Circuit. The project outcomes are that more people will gain confidence to cycle, walk and wheel more for everyday journeys.

Job Purpose:

This role will play a vital part in the growth of the organisation and success of our projects. This new position will be responsible for driving forward several projects linked to community development, volunteering and learning. As an LCDT Project Officer you will work closely with project staff and partners to increase the number of volunteers recruited and support new and existing volunteers to ensure an overall positive experience. You will develop processes and procedures to safely and effectively recruit, induct, train, mentor, retain, and empower volunteers including those experiencing barriers, to build their confidence and to maximise their impact in our local community.

In addition to volunteer development, you will also drive forward some learning events and projects that will predominantly be run by volunteers to achieve outcomes that we have committed to with our funders. This will involve reaching out to community groups across the ward to gain a better understanding of their needs and aspirations.

This role will be heavily focused on engagement with those seldom heard and experiencing barriers so a strong understanding of, and commitment to, equality and diversity is essential.
