The Role:
The post holder will assist on the development, implementation and delivery of high-quality educational experiences including school workshops, short courses, teacher training programmes and public events related to Horticulture and Sustainable Food Systems.
The Horticulture and Sustainable Food Systems education offering is currently delivered through practical day workshops and longer form courses covering our key theme areas: The Journey of Our Food, Horticulture Skills, Life Systems in the Garden and Field to Fork cooking. These are targeted predominantly to primary and early secondary school learners with a view to expand into further secondary. The curriculum is based out of the Pierburg Education Building and the Kauffman Education Garden on Dumfries House Estate and aims to provide all learners with an understanding of sustainable food production and consumption practices alongside knowledge of career opportunities available in the sector. Due to the holistic nature of our education strategy, the post holder will have the opportunity to work with colleagues on interdisciplinary programmes from the wider education team including Farming and Rural Skills, STEM, Activity and Adventure, Hospitality, Textiles and Building Crafts.

The Role:
The STEM programme is delivered through practical hands-on workshops, family events and teacher training within four key themes: Aerospace, Green Energy, Environmental Science, and Sustainable Design. These themes link to the vision of The Prince’s Foundation and support the industry skills gap at local and national level.
The post holder will develop and teach a wide range of STEM subjects to primary and secondary school level utilizing the natural resources in the surroundings to embed key concepts.
The STEM programme takes place in the purpose-built Engineering Education Centre on Dumfries House Estate and the wider education programme includes Food and Horticulture, Farming and Rural Skills, Activity and Adventure, Hospitality, Textiles and Building Crafts. Due to the holistic nature of our education strategy, the post holder will have the opportunity to work with colleagues on interdisciplinary programmes.

The Role:

Due to themes and existing expertise on the estate a candidate with a background in physics, engineering or digital technologies would be at an advantage. The candidate should however be comfortable teaching STEM subjects out with their area of expertise to a primary and secondary school level, with support from the wider Education team and industry experts.
The wider education programme on Dumfries House Estate is delivered across themes including: STEM; Food, Farming and Horticulture; Outdoor Activity; Hospitality; Textiles and Building Crafts. Due to the holistic nature of the programme, the post holder will be required to assist in these areas from time to time, take part in CPD in these areas and work with colleagues across the education team on cross curricular education projects.

Health and Wellbeing Centre at Dumfries House provides a range of holistic services to the local community. Services are GP and patient-led, with referrals from primary and secondary care providers and the option to self-refer. Run by The Prince's Foundation, we provide free of charge Integrated Health and Wellbeing Programmes for the local community, with the centre also open to health charities and other organisations. Complementary therapies include reiki, reflexology, acupuncture and hypnotherapy to help participants achieve outcomes such as fertility wellbeing, menopausal health, chronic pain management, and a weight management programme to help support individuals with diabetes and obesity.
We are looking for an individual to co-ordinate, develop and deliver health and wellbeing programmes and individual treatments within Dumfries House and to drive forward partnership working between the Local Authority, NHS, independent contractors, voluntary organisations, staff and the public. We aim to improve services for clients, improved health for communities, breaking down barriers to help people on low incomes access holistic healthcare and the delivery of outcomes agreed between the partners.

The Food, Farming and Horticulture Manager will have overarching and day-to-day responsibility for managing several the Prince’s Foundation’s key education initiatives, including programmes in the subject areas of field and farm to fork, horticulture and nature related wellbeing linked to the subject area.
The post holder will take a strategic and operational lead in the development and implementation of primary and secondary school workshops, short courses, project related education activity, teacher training programmes and public events. They will lead on the development and delivery of programmes related to the wider food education activity and links to wellbeing agenda and work closely with the Farming and Rural Skills co-ordinator to ensure the programme content is in line with strategic aims. They will ensure all programmes link to UN Sustainability Goals as well as linking to UK wide education priorities.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and building partner and stakeholder relationships. The post holder will be managing evaluation approaches across the related curriculum areas and be responsible for producing a number of reports in line with funding requirements. The post holder will also prepare and deliver classes and events across a range of ages while managing a small team including the Farm and Rural Skills Co-ordinator and tutors.
Drawing on the experience and knowledge of the Prince’s Foundation and the Harmony approach in delivering education, the post holder will be responsible for assisting in the development of a network of affiliate educational institutions, industry partners, placement providers and supporters and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education courses to students.

The Role:
Reporting directly to the Education Director while working closely with the relevant Education Managers you will be responsible for coordinating several key areas within the learning journey of our students (14yrs+) with a particular focus on Building Craft, Hospitality and Textiles curriculum areas. With many of our education programmes offering opportunities to obtain qualifications through practice-based learning you will play an active role in recruiting, registering and monitoring students as well as coordinating tutor led workshops and industry placements relevant to each programmes objective.

Dumfries House (part of The Prince’s Foundation) became an approved City and Guilds centre in 2021 offering certification in areas such as multi-disciplinary craft, hospitality and textiles. STEM Programme: The STEM programme is delivered through practical hands on workshops, family events and teacher training within five key themes: Aerospace, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Food Science and Sustainable Design, these themes make the most of the existing expertise in the wider Prince’s Foundation, as well as the local large engineering employers. A standard day’s work would involve setting up, delivering, and clearing up workshops from 9am-3pm, with time for programme development, planning and other activities in afternoons and non-school days.
Due to themes and existing expertise on the estate a candidate with a background in physics, engineering or digital technologies would be at an advantage.
