St. Crispin’s Out of School Care Association (OOSCA) is an after school play club for children with a diverse range
of additional support needs, including autism. Many of the children and young people who attend our service are
non-verbal and/or need assistance with personal care. We are a small charity organisation running out of St.
Crispin’s School in Edinburgh.
We are looking for new full-time playworkers to join our team! We are looking for people who are adaptable and
enthusiastic, and are confident in working with children and young people with differing needs and abilities.
You will be working 1-to-1 with individuals aged 5-18 years during school term times (no summer holidays).
Typical duties of the playworkers include (but are not limited to):
- Engaging in team meetings to discuss daily schedules and the needs of our service users
- Ensuring the
safety of service users and staff at all times (including risk assessments and supervision)
- Engaging
children and young people in creative play tailored towards the individual needs and interests of the service
users
- Providing personal care (including assistance with toileting) for children and young
people
- Managing challenging behaviours both 1-to-1 and as a team
- Carrying out reasonable
cleaning duties resulting from activities
- Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in respect to
clients and staff
- All staff are expected to obtain a PVG and undergo reference checks prior to working
with our service users. All persons working for St. Crispin’s OOSCA are required to register with the SSSC and
will be provided with Child Protection training, as well as epilepsy and allergy trainings.
