Youth Worker

We are currently seeking passionate youth workers to support our Hearty Lives project, with youth work in Johnstone and High Schools across Renfrewshire. The role requires 4-8 hours per week, in the evenings, and may require weekend work as we continue to develop our youth work program.

We are looking for individuals who have experience working with young people and have previously assisted in running activities for them.

Additionally, this post requires the applicant to undergo a satisfactory PVG check.

Active Communities is an innovative health and wellbeing charity based in Renfrewshire. Our aim is to develop happy, healthy, and active communities where people feel good about themselves. We are a community-led organisation working with the local community to deliver life-changing programmes.

We are looking to recruit new trustees who share our values and are passionate about accessible health and wellbeing opportunities for the local community.

Next year we’re looking forward to building on what we can offer to communities across Renfrewshire. To do this, we will grow our programmes delivery, invest in our team and develop our organisational sustainability.

To support this, we wish to expand the skills of the board of trustees in the following areas:

• Social Enterprise/Business Development

• Community Learning and Development

• Facilities Management

• Climate action and net zero

We are also looking for people with lived experiences of social and economic factors affecting local communities.

Marketing Co-ordinator

The Marketing coordinator, funded by Scottish Government Straightening Communities fund, will play a key role to raise our profile and improve our impact within the local area and increase our funds through enterprise and fundraising.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised person who can passionately lead our marketing strategy. We expect strong project management and digital skills with successful marketing campaigns within a social enterprise or commercial setting.

This post is 25 hours per week and we are open to a flexible working pattern and hybrid working. On occasions they may be evening or weekend work for events and campaigns.

We are looking for a passionate youth worker who can lead and deliver a range of youth programmes for our Hearty Lives project in local high schools and the community.

We want someone with an interest and knowledge in youth health and health behaviour change. This can be in a variety of areas such as diet, exercise, mental health, stopping smoking, drug misuse, alcohol consumption and sexual health. You will work to recruit and train a team of young volunteers who will peer educate on these health topics .

Community Development Worker

We are delighted to announce we have secured 3 year funding from the Scottish Government Investing in Communities fund for a new community-based project. This community-led project will provide opportunities for people to come together “Round the Table” to: Access support, Eat, Cook, Talk, Participate, Share, Learn and Make decisions. We are recruiting two full time positions based in Johnstone, Renfrewshire who will join the rest of the team at Station Seven.

The Community Development Worker will lead in the development and delivery of the Round the Table project. It is vital to the success of the project that the Development Worker reaches out to those who are not currently engaged and empower them to overcome social barriers.

We are looking for someone with a passion for community development work and effectively engages with local people.

Community Food Co-ordinator

We are recruiting this new role to lead our food insecurity related projects. Our community pantry supports empowering communities to tackle food poverty by providing low-cost food. This role will also develop the provision of a healthy and affordable range of food within our projects. We have received funding for 3 years from the Robertson Trust to support this project.

This year we opened our brand-new building in the heart of the community in Johnstone. The former Police Station has been transformed into a community-led health and wellbeing hub. The space is home to all our programmes and activities, including classes, courses and drop-in sessions. Station Seven also has a community kitchen and pantry, a volunteer hub, event spaces and meeting rooms. It is also host to Johnstone's first start-up business incubator, Start-Up Street Johnstone.

We would like someone who has the skills and experience of working in food/catering environments and understands the the issues affecting local communities.

Chairperson

Active Communities is seeking to appoint a new Chairperson to lead and guide the charity through an exciting and ambitious phase of growth.

‘Daring greatly’ has been our mantra, and has seen us successfully secure the asset transfer of the former Johnstone Police Station and £2.2million capital funding to create a community led health, wellbeing, and enterprise hub. Station Seven will open in the Spring of this year.

We have a recovery plan in place for the organisation coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, and are acutely aware of the increasingly challenging financial environment we are in. We have ambitious plans for the future and recognise the need to diversify our income streams to ensure that we can sustain the organisation and allow us to continue to support our local community needs.

As Chair you will lead our Board of Trustees and work with the CEO and staff to develop the new strategic direction of the organisation as we move into our new premises later this year. The Chair will also ensure robust governance arrangements are in place, monitor the performance of the organisation and bring constructive challenge to influence decision making.

We are looking for someone with drive , enthusiasm and the knowledge , skills, and experience to help us in the next stage of our journey. This is an exciting opportunity to provide visible and effective leadership and join a passionate and dedicated team with community at its heart.

This is a voluntary role, however any reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the carrying role, as board member, will be reimbursed.

Youth Health Promotion Worker (health and relationships)

This post will work with young people in local youth work settings with other third sector partners. This post will support young people to identify healthy and unhealthy relationships using a variety of resources already developed in Renfrewshire through the Early Action Systems Change Work.
