Policy and Public Affairs Officer (Devolved Nations)

  • Part time
  • £30,500 pro-rata
  • Hybrid: Edinburgh
  • Closing 19th October 2026

Could you represent Stonewall to parliamentarians, civil servants, parliamentary staff, civil society and third sector organisations in our devolved nations? If you're keen to lead on the development of policy positions, consultation responses and briefings on issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, and are experienced in grounding your approach and outputs in evidence and lived experience, you could be our Policy and Public Affairs Officer (Devolved Nations).

This is a role requiring strong analytical and political skills, sound judgement in a sensitive and often contested public debate, and a clear personal commitment to LGBTQ+ equality. You will support the development of policy positions and engagement with parliaments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, combining research and policy development with relationship-building and direct parliamentary engagement. You will work to advance LGBTQ+ rights and equality through legislation, government policy, and public discussion.

The Scottish Government is actively engaging on ending conversion practices and has included a commitment to legislate on the issue in their manifesto – the role-holder will be engaged with this work, and the role will be primarily based in Scotland.
