About Amisfield Preservation Trust
Amisfield Preservation Trust provides a regenerative community space (Amisfield Walled Garden) just outside of Haddington for a wide range of groups. The project is volunteer led and this year we are celebrating 25 years of the Trust. Since project inception, volunteers have recreated a beautiful, historic and peaceful 8 acre walled garden which had fallen into disrepair. The project helps improve the life chances of those most vulnerable in our community, through support for individuals with barriers to employment ; drives inclusion through involving volunteers with a range of additional support needs; promotes learning through educational activities for school groups with their teachers, and for the general public through a variety of training events; helps the community to flourish through increased social connection and regenerative activities that improve mental and physical wellbeing and resilience and help increase pride in the local community and place.
We are looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated person to further develop our wellbeing work within the garden. The postholder will work alongside our existing Volunteer Coordinator to support people with vulnerabilities to regularly visit and/or engage in gardening with a therapeutic focus. They will work with people both on a 1-1 basis and with small groups. They will undertake outreach work to other organisations who have a wellbeing focus to develop new partnerships and bring additional groups and people with vulnerabilities into the garden. They will also host 6 wellbeing workshops at the garden throughout the year. These workshops might be run in partnership with other organisations.
This post is offered initially on a fixed contract of one year ( 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025). The post is funded by East Lothian TSI Communities, Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. Continuation will be dependent on further grant funding being secured.
