Home-Start Edinburgh

Charity registered in Scotland SC004387

Home-Start Edinburgh has been offering support to families in the area since 1986…because childhood can’t wait. Being a parent, whatever your age, background or other circumstances, isn’t always easy. This, coupled with other pressures in life such as illness, stress or financial worries, can make parenting even more difficult and overwhelming. Home-Start volunteers visit families once a week for a couple of hours in their own homes, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. Home-Start Edinburgh works with families in need of support who have at least one child under the age of five.
