Team: Delivery/SCNI
As the Engagement Officer, you will help people and communities choose walking, wheeling and cycling for everyday
journeys. You will plan and deliver projects, events and activities that encourage active travel and bring
people together. You will build positive relationships with community groups, partners and stakeholders, helping
them to get involved and make a difference locally.
You will manage project plans, budgets and records, making sure activities are organised and delivered effectively,
whilst supporting community engagement initiatives. You will also work closely with volunteers, supporting their
involvement in projects and occasionally helping with volunteer recruitment. Through this work, you will
contribute to the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust's wider goals of creating healthier, safer and more accessible
communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Planning and deliver activities and events that encourage people to walk, wheel and cycle more often, working
with schools, community groups and partner organisations.
- Support the delivery of behaviour change and
engagement projects, working with your line manager to plan activities, organise tasks and maintain project
records and documentation.
- Apply equality, diversity and inclusion principles in all aspects of your
work, helping to ensure activities are welcoming, accessible and inclusive for everyone.
- Build and
maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, partners and volunteers, raising awareness of
the benefits of active travel and encouraging people to get involved.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with communities, inspiring positive behaviour change, organising
events and activities, and working with partners to help more people choose walking, wheeling and cycling for
everyday journeys.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet
every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
- Experience engaging with children, young people and schools, building positive relationships and encouraging
participation in activities and events.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability
to present information clearly and write reports for a range of audiences.
- Experience working
collaboratively as part of a team and developing effective relationships with colleagues, partners, volunteers
and stakeholders.
- Ability to organise and manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
while working across multiple projects.
- The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and
wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk.
