Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our staff team.

The post of Money & Welfare Rights Adviser is a vital post with Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau. We believe strongly in making a difference for our clients. Our aim is to ensure that no one suffers through lack of knowledge of their rights and entitlements and that equally through social policy action we strive to make long lasting changes for everyone by raising issues with decision makers at a local and National level.

The post holder will contribute to this through providing money, financial capability and welfare rights information, case work and representation.

The post holder will be working with colleagues and supporting highly trained volunteers to deliver welfare rights and money advice to our clients. You should have advice delivery experience and thrive on a challenge and assisting your clients to tackle their issues and support them to move forward and plan long-term solutions rather than a quick fix. We believe strongly in delivering a quality advice service in line with the Scottish National Standards. Adviser – Rare conditions

Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our staff team.

This new exciting project is a partnership between ourselves and Ataxia UK.

‘Ataxia’ is an umbrella term for a group of neurological disorders that affect balance, coordination and speech. There are many different types of ataxia that affect people in different ways. Ataxia UK is the leading national charity in the UK for people affected by any type of ataxia. We fund research into finding treatments and cures, and offer services, advice, information and support to people affected by the condition. For more information, visit ataxia.org.uk.

Salary: £26,000 (pay review pending + plus pension, NI etc)

Start date : April 2023 (However, an earlier start date can be arranged if this suits the candidate)

Annual leave : 27 days, plus 13 days Public Holidays Total : 40

Hours : 35 (Flexible working hours policy in place and Hybrid working)

Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for suitably experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our staff team. This new exciting project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund will extend our work in Barlinnie prison for our new project to encourage peer to peer advice between prisoners and engagement with community volunteering on release.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced trainer and mentor to join Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau. The post holder will work between Barlinnie prison and Parkhead CAB. The main aim of the post is to lead a programme of personal and social development including life skills workshops and to provide support and training to enable participants to be able to deliver advice and information to their peers. The ultimate aim will be to also give the advisers the confidence and knowledge to take the skills they have learnt and gain employment and or volunteering opportunities on release. The Training Officer will be responsible for forging links in the community for relevant future placements.

The post holder should have a knowledge of advice and information ideally in a CAB or similar advice giving setting.

Development & Fundraising Officer

This is a key post within our organisation and enables us to deliver on our aims and make a real difference to our clients and the community we serve. Are you interested in a job that has real meaning and where you have the flexibility and scope to make it your own and be self-directed, but with support from your line manager, the fundraising sub-committee of the Board of Trustees and the rest of the CAB team. We are clear about our aims to 'positively change lives through a rights-based advice and information service' and your role would be pivotal in helping to make this happen. You would also be working to help sustain the Third Sector and assist other organisations to obtain sustainable funding through consultancy work, also ensuring you always had variety and challenge in your role. You should be able to work with a variety of stakeholders as well as funders including statutory bodies, Trusts and independent charities, with a proven track record in obtaining grant and/or contract income.

Helping Hand Money Advice Buddy

Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our staff team as our Helping Hand Money Advice Buddy.

This is an exciting new post with Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau. We believe strongly in making a difference for our clients. Our aim is to ensure that no one suffers through lack of knowledge of their rights and entitlements and that equally through social policy action we strive to make long lasting changes for everyone.

The post holder will contribute to this through providing direct support and help to money advice clients on their money advice journey, particularly those who may have issues engaging fully due to their individual circumstances. The Buddy will be a key person for them to contact and assist them to progress their case and should be prepared to be flexible on their hours of work which could include some evenings and weekend time to benefit clients.

This is not a complex advice giving post which is reflected in the salary level, although the candidate will be expected to have knowledge and understanding of the money advice process. The aim of this post is to be a key contact and support person for clients. Working closely with our other staff and money advisers the post holder will establish why a case may not be progressing due to the need for information or responses from clients or creditors and step in to give a helping hand. It is essential that the candidate has excellent communication skills as well as patience and understanding and is sensitive to the needs of our clients and works hard to find solutions to problems.

The post holder will be need to have proficient IT skills and be able to use website and digital tools to assist clients online as well as face to face when permitted.

We are currently providing advice services via remote access and safe face to face for emergency vulnerable clients only. The post holder should expect to be office and home based. Post Covid we expect to continue a blend of remote and office working and we will continue our commitment to flexible working for the benefit of our clients and employees. Some of our flexible options have included working with our staff around school start and finish times to enable those with caring commitments to take up employment.
