Due to successfully securing new funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places, and the Coalburn, Douglas & Glespin Community Fund, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and energetic Gear Up Community & Team Lead who can drive the growth of this exciting enterprise.

You’ll lead on the development of our bike hire scheme and community hubs, manage the small staff and volunteer team, and drive the development of partnerships and commercial opportunities.

This role is subject to a PVG Disclosure Scotland check, which will be paid by Healthy Valleys.

Due to the requirement to travel around rural communities, the postholder must have a full, clean driving licence, access to their own transport (with appropriate business insurance) and be prepared to drive the Healthy Valleys van.

You’ll teach cycling, engage people with active travel, work with schools and educational organisations, and support the development of events and partnerships.

Healthy Valleys in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire requires to recruit the above post to develop and enhance the Lanarkshire Weight Management Service (LWMS). This position will be based at NHS Lanarkshire (Law House) and may include home working.

Working as part of the LWMS, the post holder will develop current and new partnerships across the Lanarkshire Board area with a focus on all aspects of the Healthy Schools Framework (Early Level, First Level and Second Level), associated CLPL for teachers as well as Healthy Schools Partnerships. We’ll support you with the technical training for the role, and hope you’ll then be able to support and train others- strengthening resilience in communities, growing skills for work and life, and setting people up for healthy lifestyles.

You’ll support the planning and delivery of our comprehensive Active Travel offer and provide information and guidance to local groups and communities on the benefits of active and sustainable travel.

We are looking for an expert communicator who is passionate about the third sector and can support the growth of the Gear Up Social Enterprise. A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. marketing, applied graphic design), or some experience in the field is preferable, as are strong design skills, and an interest in Active Travel. However, if you’re creative, good at understanding audiences, and want to support Healthy Valleys to make a difference to local communities, we’ll support you with any additional training required. The role is a great opportunity for a marketing student or graduate looking to make an impact!

You’ll plan, develop, and deliver an exciting and comprehensive promotional offer across all platforms, co-ordinate the day-to-day delivery of the marketing programme, and work with our partners to ensure a strategic approach to the promotion of Active Travel in South Lanarkshire.
