Community Volunteers Enabling You (COVEY) has operated across Lanarkshire for 31 years supporting 4,500 children, young people and parents/carers to become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential. COVEY provides 1-1 and group-based befriending, mentoring and intensive family support.
This role will support the CEO, Deputy CEO & Operations Leader and wider Leadership Team (LT) by leading on administrative, clerical and finance support including HR & Payroll administration, Salesforce CRM updates/reports, office enquiries, board/LT administration and operations assistance where required.
We are looking for someone who has experience in office management and administration, with strong interpersonal skills to manage internal and external relationships effectively and appropriately. You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and have an understanding of HR requirements, including relevant policies and procedures, and Health and Safety. Experience using CRM systems and accounting packages such as Xero would also be desirable.

Our befriending groups run from 6pm – 8pm in the evenings.

Joanne had been struggling with her mental health for around 4 years when COVEY first started working with her. Her son had not been to school during this time, he was not sleeping at night and Joanne was home schooling. COVEY provided Joanne with weekly support to get out and about - she had not been out socially for the 4 years that her son was struggling. COVEY staff have supported Joanne and her son to get to GP and specialist appointments, allowing a diagnosis to be made for her son of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Joanne is now getting out socially and her son is suitably medicated. Joanne’s son is also being supported by COVEY to transition into a high school where his needs will be met. Joanne will continue to be supported to make some time for herself, safe in the knowledge that her son is attending school, being educated, and mixing with his peers. Through COVEY’s support Joanne feels more confident in her parenting role, and her relationship with her son has improved greatly.

We are looking for empathetic, enthusiastic, life experienced Mentors to join our growing team to support our participants in the following way:
• Facilitating 1:1 befriending and mentoring sessions;
• Establishing and maintaining trusting relationships;
• Understanding and supporting children, young people and/or young adults (aged between 8 and 30 yrs.) with additional support needs;
• Planning and delivering a range of opportunities and activities for our participants in line with their interests and personal goals;
• Ensuring that agreed outcomes for participants are being met;
• Building relationships with families to promote support and ensure engagement;
• Working closely with the wider COVEY team;
• Facilitating or supporting small buddy group and social sessions;
• Completing regular case notes;
• Communicating clearly and regularly.
Mentoring sessions occur throughout the week: during the daytime, in the evenings and Saturdays between 09:00 and 21:00. We have a range of time slots available to work around your availability and other commitments e.g. College timetables.
Support with travel, subsistence and activity costs whilst on session, alongside our commitment paying the Real Living Wage of £9.90 per hour.
