seescape is the new operational name of Fife Society for the Blind. After 150 years of serving those with a sight impairment in Fife, we decided it was time to refresh our name to take us in to the 21st century.

Sight Support Intern

We are currently recruiting for a Sight Support Intern.

This opportunity has a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the selected candidate must be blind or partially sighted, in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) and RNIB are collaborating with charities in the sight loss sector, including Seescape, to create new opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to find employment through the Get Set Progress Internship programme.

Seescape is delighted to be offering an internship as part of the scheme, made possible by the partnership as well as generous funding from the Hospital Saturday Fund.

The Seescape Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for individuals with visual impairments to gain valuable work experience and contribute to the mission of Seescape, a sight loss charity. The internship is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of charitable services while fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

What are the benefits of a Get Set Progress internship for me?

As part of your 9-month internship, you will gain the following:

As part of the GSP Internship programme, you will also be enrolled on the TPT Employment Programme, where you will gain employment support, guidance and advice from the TPT Employment Team, some of the obtainable skills are:

Trainee Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment)

Seescape is the leading charity provider of support services for people with a visual impairment in Fife. We’re looking for someone with experience in social care, health care or a similar specialism to undertake on-the-job training, while studying towards a recognised qualification in Low Vision Rehabilitation. Upon qualification, you’ll provide assessment and rehabilitation support to visually impaired people to empower them to maintain or regain independence. Community Engagement Team Leader

seescape is the leading charity provider of support services for people with a visual impairment in Fife. We aim to empower people with a visual impairment to live safely, independently and achieve their personal goals. We offer a range of services as part of a one-stop-shop approach, including information and advice, rehabilitation, assistive technology training, befriending and social groups. We also operate our own Opticians, allowing us to take a person-centred approach towards eye care, and linking clients directly into our other services as required.

seescape is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic fundraiser to build upon existing relationships with trusts and foundations and seek out new funding opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of fundraising, ideally from a range of sources. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to think imaginatively; be self-motivated and target driven.

Community Activities Co-ordinator

seescape is looking for a suitably motivated, active individual who has a drive for promoting and supporting clients with visual impairment to get back to community life.

You will work with individual clients, groups and volunteers to deliver a programme of activities, facilitating physical wellbeing and exercises to do at home and in group settings. You will have a passion for wellbeing and be able to demonstrate suitable experience and exceptional delivery skills, adaptable for people with visual impairment.
