Charity registered in Scotland SC049866
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Communications Manager, who will take the lead across all our online and offline promotional channels to promote our charity and our impact, raising awareness of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme, promoting our open gardens to maximise visitor numbers and income, and the beneficial impact of funds raised.
Scotland’s Gardens Scheme was established in 1931 to raise funds by opening private gardens. Today, our purpose remains the same and our small staff team supports a wonderful community of volunteers and Garden Owners, working together to develop and deliver a programme of garden openings each year, raising vital funds for hundreds of charities. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Support Officer to join our Head Office staff team, working with approximately 300 amazing, regular volunteers and a further 500 garden owners each year. You will provide comprehensive administrative support and will assist with the promotion and development of volunteering, including new volunteer initiatives, recruitment and engagement.
Scotland's Gardens Scheme is a charity which supports the opening of private gardens around Scotland, raising funds for other charities through garden gate tickets, plant sales and refreshments. The charity was established in 1931 and has a small staff team which supports volunteers around Scotland to open an amazing range of gardens to the public, many of them hidden gems that are not usually available to visit. The Scheme typically raises around £250,000 for charity each year. The charity co-ordinates the involvement of hundreds of gardens each year, through the volunteer network, and promotes openings through our website, our famous 'Yellow Book', social media, e-news and our YouTube channel.
Scotland's Gardens Scheme has an eight-strong team of Trustees and following its recent restructure as a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), now wishes to recruit an additional three Trustees to build the skills base of the Board. We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in the following areas: Communications and Digital Marketing, Sponsorship, IT, Legal and Human Resources, with an enthusiasm for gardens and horticulture.
