JOIN OUR BOARD AS MARKETING ADVISER

The Cornerstone Bookshop is an independent, ecumenical religious bookshop and a registered Scottish charity.

The Bookshop stocks a wide range of books and other materials that are inclusive and responsive to the needs and issues of our time.

Customers value advice from the dedicated, knowledgeable staff and enjoy a calm oasis in which to browse the selection of religious reading as well as children’s books, history and poetry, together with cards, candles and gifts.

Are you looking for a new development opportunity?

Can you…

• Develop a strategy for online marketing?

• Provide advice to the board on marketing skills?

• Communicate effectively?

No previous board experience required.

We are looking for a marketing adviser with:

• Experience of marketing roles in commercial organisations, preferably retail

• Communcation skills - verbal – written - digital

• A strong grounding in online channels

• Experience in web design, including selling online

• Commercial acumen

• An ability to explain the digital world to those of less experience

• Experience of helping to train others

• An ability to work in a small team 195

Customers value advice from the dedicated, knowledgeable staff and enjoy a calm oasis in which to browse the selection of books, cards, candles and gifts.

In your new role, you will:

  • Empower the Board, draw out and use the skills of each board member
  • Chair monthly board meetings
  • Represent the Bookshop where necessary with potential funders, supporters and customers
  • Visit the Bookshop several times a month to find out how the business is doing and the issues staff face
  • Promote the Bookshop through its own network and connections
  • Motivate staff
  • Be responsible for appointing new staff, when necessary, and working with other Board members
  • Monitor Board effectiveness and composition, working with other Board members
