West of Scotland Deaf Children’s Society (WSDCS) is a local charity dedicated to providing support to deaf children and their families which improves their quality of life and helps them achieve their potential.
West of Scotland Deaf Children’s Society (WSDCS) is a Scottish Registered Charity (SC012285) affiliated to the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS). We are committed to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people. We are based in Glasgow and work in the West of Scotland.
WSDCS is now seeking to strengthen its existing Board with the recruitment of at least 3 new Trustees. We are especially, but not exclusively, interested in people who bring knowledge and experience of one or more of the following areas:
• Deafness
• Working with Children/Young People
• Finance/(Charity) Accounting
• HR
• Education
Trustees are expected to attend four Board meetings, one Annual General Meeting and one strategic meeting per year. You will also support our small staff team. This is a voluntary position with no remuneration. Travel and out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and we are committed to having a diverse Board.
West Scotland Deaf Children’s Society (WSDCS) provides social and emotional support to deaf children, young people and their families. Our charity is based in Glasgow City Centre but provides support across the West of Scotland through clubs, events and our Family Support Service. WSDCS is committed to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people, working to empower them and improve mental health and wellbeing. To support this work, we are recruiting for the above position.
WSDCS is an organisation led by a Board of Trustees. We maintain a reputation of working positively with families, keeping them at the centre of everything we do. The day-to-day work of the charity is delivered by our small staff team and we are looking for a new Family Support Officer to help us achieve our goals and ambitions.
The focus of the role will be to provide information and support to families and carers of deaf children and young people and support our wider programme of activities for families. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who can help evolve the society and work with our friendly team.
WSDCS works closely with NDCS and other professionals and organisations to provide the best possible support for families who have a deaf child or children. We deliver consistent and high-quality support based on child-centred principles and practice.
