Homework Club Facilitator - Primary

Govan Community Project provides a holistic range of support for individuals and families in the asylum and refugee community. Our Homework Clubs are a community education project, primarily designed to support children and families with lived experience of seeking refuge/the asylum process to better understand and engage with the Scottish school curriculum. We are recruiting a Homework Club Facilitator to support the Primary-age group (6-12yrs+).

You will be responsible for supporting and facilitating two after school club sessions for primary school aged children each week, creating and maintaining a safe, supportive and positive educational environment for participants to engage with their school work and academic development. The role also includes co-planning/facilitation of a range of formal and informal enrichment activities, including for the Spring, Summer and October school holiday programmes. You will also ensure the sessions and activities best meet the needs, learning levels and interests of attendees.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working/volunteering with primary school aged children in a youth work, community education or school-based setting
  • Has experience/knowledge of tailoring learning materials to best support primary school-aged children’s academic learning
  • Has knowledge/understanding of the barriers faced by individuals in the asylum process in relation to education and attainment
  • Has knowledge/experience of trauma-informed approaches to working with vulnerable children and families
  • Has knowledge/understanding of child protection procedures
  • Has a flexible working approach and excellent time management skills
  • Can work on own initiative and as part of a team, using strong interpersonal and communication skills

Are you experienced in fundraising, passionate about social justice and ready to use your skills to make a difference for people seeking safety in Glasgow?

Govan Community Project provides a holistic range of support for individuals and families in the asylum and refugee community.

We are looking for a grants and trusts fundraiser who can transform human stories into powerful funding proposals. Your work will directly secure a combination of project and unrestricted funding needed to keep our essential services sustainable.

In this role we are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least 2 years experience in a grants and trusts fundraising role and a history of securing grant funding in excess of £200,000 annually.
  • Has knowledge of the Scottish charity funding sector, full cost recovery and budget planning
  • Can create compelling narratives that highlight the real experiences and needs of our community
  • Can develop a strong pipeline of grant prospects to diversify project and unrestricted funding
