We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and passionate Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join us at an exciting stage in our history at SiMBA, as we embark on embedding and delivering upon a refreshed vision, mission and strategy.

Our CEO will lead our team in meeting our strategic goals, work in collaboration with our Board of Trustees to develop our strategic direction, and ensure that we are operationally effective whilst raising the profile of SiMBA within the bereavement care sector.

Our CEO will focus on building strategic partnerships with other organisations with aligned goals and values, cementing SiMBA’s niche amongst the range of charities who support bereaved families through the loss of their baby, and will empower our fundraising team to raise the funds necessary to achieve our goals.

Having a strong grasp of the challenges facing the Charity and bringing creativity, a practical and commercial approach to decision making, as well as being a ‘people person’ is essential to help SiMBA support as many bereaved families as possible in Scotland to grieve, honour and remember their precious baby.

Expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and effective charity governance is critical. Our CEO must guide our hard-working and dedicated team as we refine our offer and build our impact and reach within Scotland.

Our CEO, along with all of our team, will have contact with people who have experienced the loss of a baby; parents, family members, friends, colleagues and healthcare professionals who are supporting them. Therefore, it is important to feel comfortable working in a bereavement care environment and talking about baby loss with multiple stakeholders.

Community Outreach Co-ordinator

We are looking for an experienced Community Outreach Co-ordinator to join our small team who will be responsible for developing SiMBA’s memory making activities, developing a programme of community remembrance events working with local communities to deliver these, building and maintaining relationships with our key stakeholders, including bereaved families and parents. The Community Outreach Co-ordinator will enable and assist communities to create, plan and organise their own remembrance or memory making events. The Community Outreach Co-ordinator will develop links with Groups, individuals, local churches, organisations, schools, etc who may wish to locally income generate for SiMBA or be involved in a remembrance event or memory making activity.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Outreach Co-ordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organisation, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach events and activities around the theme of memory making and remembrance to support families affected by baby loss. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy in dealing with individuals and families who have experienced profound loss. A deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by bereaved families and the ability to establish meaningful connections within the community are essential. The successful candidate will be adept at organising and involving people in the community, recruiting volunteers, delivering workshops, and events. Knowledge of the local Scottish community and a proactive approach to collaboration with healthcare professionals, community leaders, and stakeholders is required.

You will have direct contact with people who have experienced the loss of a baby; parents, family members, friends, colleagues and healthcare professionals who are supporting them. Experience of working with service users and managing the sensitivity around this is desirable. You must be able to work with an empathetic approach and know that you would be comfortable in a bereavement care environment.

We are looking for an experienced Office Manager to join our small team to support the CEO and wider team with administration and office management. This role offers lots of opportunity to bring your business skills to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the operational side of the Charity.

If you are a team player who is able to engage with people at all levels, establishing relationships with all key stakeholders and has proven experience in both office management and administration support at leadership level, then we want to hear from you.

You must be passionate about ensuring systems, processes and policies are of a high standard in order to fulfil our aim of offering the best care to the bereaved families we support. You will be instrumental in the effective organisation of the office environment, supporting the team in achieving operational excellence and the highest quality across all service delivery areas to all families, volunteers and wider stakeholders. You will be responsible for providing direct administrative support to the CEO and our Board as well as being a central point of support for the wider team.

This role would therefore be ideally suited to an experienced Office Manager looking to take on more responsibility in the efficient running of a small charity.

Our office is open Tuesday to Thursday, 9-5pm and this role is office-based.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Oversight: Monitor, support, and report on the organisation's financial health, including budgeting, cash flow management, financial forecasting, annual accounts, and audit.

• Transparency and Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and transparency in financial reporting to stakeholders.

• Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborate with the team to develop and execute a financial strategy aligned with the organisation's mission and goals.

• Fundraising Support: Work closely with the fundraising team to develop financial strategies that support our fundraising efforts and ensure sustainability.

• Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks and propose mitigation strategies to protect the organisation's financial interests.

• Financial Reporting: Support the preparation and present financial reports to the board of directors and key stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations.

• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate financial strategies into program planning and execution.

Experience:

• Proven experience in accountancy and financial management in the charity sector.

• Strong understanding of charity financial regulation, compliance and reporting.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in financial software and tools (our charity uses Xero).

We are looking for an administrative assistant to join our small team as maternity cover for our Support Service Assistant. We are seeking an organised individual with excellent communication skills, able to engage with people at all levels. You will be instrumental in the effective administration of our core support services including our Memory Boxes, Family Rooms, and Trees of Tranquillity, and will promote operational excellence and high quality across all service delivery areas to families, volunteers and wider stakeholders.

If you are detailed, focussed, passionate about supporting the team to deliver the highest quality of care, and can work in a fast-paced environment, then this is the role for you.

You will have direct contact with people who have experienced the loss of a baby; parents, family members, friends and colleagues and healthcare professionals who are supporting them. Experience of working with service users and managing the sensitivity around this is desirable. You must be passionate about working with the fundraising and communications team to engage with every fundraiser and donor to ensure they receive a high quality and consistent supporter journey.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will be responsible for the smooth running of the day-to-day fundraising and communications function, leading a small, newly established team to deliver on our fundraising target and strategy. This role is largely operational in its focus but will require you to support the CEO and our Board at a strategic level. You will work very closely with your team to deliver on operational activities, whilst still able to focus upon setting and monitoring progress against the fundraising and communications strategies and establishing effective processes and systems.

This role would therefore be ideally suited to an experienced Fundraising Manager looking to take on more responsibility in the management of a small team or applying skills learnt as a departmental lead in a larger charity to a “Head of” function role in a smaller organisation.
