Location:Based at our head office in Merchant City, this role combines office-based work with travel to our venues and external events. Hybrid working is available, allowing you to balance time in the office and at home.

As a Volunteering Officer you’ll be a part of the established Volunteering Team, reporting to the Volunteering and Citizenship Manager. You’ll play an essential role in supporting all aspects of volunteer programme delivery, ensuring that our programmes are inclusive and inspiring for volunteers. Your work will make a visible and lasting difference. This could be:

• Supporting our communities
• Helping people get active
• Creating cultural experiences
• Or working behind the scenes to make it all happen

We’re looking for:

• Experience of supervising person centred activities or services involving volunteers, including volunteer engagement, guidance or programme delivery.
• Experience of delivering training sessions, workshops or programmes.
• Demonstrable ability to supervise and motivate people.
• Ability to manage the day-to-day delivery of high-quality person-centred services.
• Understanding of volunteering principles and best practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with volunteers, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organisational skills, including planning, scheduling and maintaining accurate records.
• Competent IT skills and experience in data collection and information management.

What you need to know

Hours: Full-time roles: 35 hours per week, worked across 5 days out of 7. You will be required to work evenings and weekends to meet service needs, with notice of 2 weeks provided in advance.

Part-time roles: We can consider a range of hours starting from 17.5 hours per week upwards, worked over multiple days. Evening and weekend work will be required to meet service needs, with notice of 2 weeks provided in advance. Patterns can be discussed and agreed with successful candidates.

Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis. The hourly rate is £15.24 per hour.

It can be adapted across a variety of settings and typically engages with young people within their local communities, in schools or on the streets. You’ll develop, adapt and deliver a wide range of learning experiences for groups of young people aged 12-18. You’ll actively seek out and engage with new and existing groups of young people across the city and support the delivery of the service’s strategic objectives.

You’ll be keen and enthusiastic, able to relate well to a number of different groups of young people and be flexible and adaptable, able to deliver in different contexts, whether in a school-based setting, partner organisation or on the streets. You’ll be able to plan and deliver innovative youth work sessions based on the needs of the young people you engage with and evaluate the impact of your work.

We’re looking for:

• Relevant experience of delivering play, youthwork, creative arts (art, drama) or coaching activities in an educational or community-based setting.
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral demonstrated through reports, presentation or facilitation of groups.
• Ability to adapt programmes and sessions according to the needs of different audiences.
• Experience (paid or voluntary) working with young people aged 12-18 in schools, youth work or community-based setting.
• Knowledge of recognised youth work principles, standards and sector best practice.
• Ability to evaluate programme delivery, reflect on effectiveness and adjust content and methods accordingly.
