Central Borders Citizens Advice Bureau, based in Galashiels is an independent and innovative organisation providing quality, holistic advice and support to local citizens.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, focussed candidate who is passionate about social justice. They must have excellent communication and organisational skills, be computer literate and understand the importance of excellent customer service. The successful applicant will be expected to complete the CAB Adviser Training Programme and will be encouraged and supported in their personal development.
The Manager is responsible for the overall operational and strategic management of Central Borders Citizens Advice Bureau (CBMCAB) within guidelines set by the Board of Trustees and membership of Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux.
The Manager works closely with the Board to develop and implement strategic and operational plans and manage a staff and volunteer team to effectively implement these plans. He or she will help create a positive and efficient working culture, support and empower the team whilst also building and maintaining strong effective partnerships with stakeholders.
The Manager needs to be comfortable managing finances at a senior management level including assisting the Treasurer on budget preparation, income and expenditure monitoring and forecasting. He or she will be responsible for helping secure sufficient additional funding to support business continuity and project development.
Stakeholder management is key to this position and the Manager will be responsible for working closely with Scottish Borders Council, the Consortium of Scottish Borders Bureaux, colleagues in the other Borders Bureaux and sister agencies to achieve the aims of the Bureau and develop new services and opportunities for collaboration
About the Job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated person to join our team. The Session Supervisor has day to day operational responsibility for the delivery of the advice service. Also ensure that the quality of advice delivered is in line with the Scottish National Standards and Citizens Advice Scotland’s Membership standards.
The post holder will have the skills and experience to manage and support a team, communicate and liaise with varying organisations, deliver advice and information services to clients and have completed the CAB Adviser Training Programme. In addition, they must be able to work under pressure and use their initiative as well as working as part of a larger advice team. They will have excellent organisation, communication and IT skills and be willing to develop the service to meet growing consumer technological needs. The Successful applicant will be encouraged and supported in their personal development by the Bureau Manager.
Central Borders CAB are seeking application from suitably experienced individuals to join their staff team and also the teams in Peebles and Roxburgh & Berwickshire CABx. As post will require a mixture of home working and spending time in all 3 Border CABx areas, a driving licence and access to transport is essential. This is a three-year project funded, in the main, by the Robertson Trust.
The Training Officer is a full-time position, covering the Scottish Borders Council Area to recruit and deliver training to new and existing volunteers, also ensure that continuous personal development and a high standard of advice is maintained.
Although a full-time post Central Borders Citizens Advice Bureau will consider part-time and job share applications where individual candidates have the skills and experience required.
