We are currently recruiting for a full-time Contact Officer to provide a triage service to all referrals coming into the Money, Debt & Benefit Team; as well as provide support to the Advisers to ensure the most effective service delivery to our clients.

Digital Inclusion Project Worker

Stirling Council Advice Services is an accredited provider of welfare benefits, money and debt advice under the Scottish National Standards for Advice and Information Providers. The service is also one of the key providers of digital inclusion advice and support in the Stirling area. Stirling Council Digital Inclusion project offers free and tailored help to complete beginners or those looking to improve their digital skills. The team aim to improve the confidence of Stirling Citizens using a wide variety of services online. We are currently recruiting for 2 full-time Digital Inclusion Workers to work within our Digital Inclusion Project as part of the Thrive to Maximise and Multiply Stirling Projects.

  • Thrive to Maximise is a programme specifically targeted at parents across the Stirling Council area. The programme sets out to reduce in-work poverty as well as family and child poverty and aims to help families gain an improved financial situation.
  • Multiply Stirling is a new community based numeracy programme funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund aiming to build the numeracy capacity of people across targeted areas and within targeted groups across Stirling.

The successful applicants will work in partnership with the wider Advice Services Team; as well as the Learning and Employability Team.

Both posts are currently funded until 31st March 2025 and will report to the Senior Digital Inclusion Worker.

Macmillan Money Matters Project Worker

The service is also one of the key providers of digital inclusion advice and support in the Stirling area. The Forth Valley Macmillan Money Matters Project provides income maximisation advice and support to people with a Cancer diagnosis living in either Clackmannanshire, Falkirk or Stirling. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Project Worker to work within the Macmillan Money Matters Project; and alongside the wider Advice Services Team. You should ideally have experience of: completing benefits checks; supporting vulnerable people to maximise their income, through applying for benefits and charitable grants; challenging benefit decisions, including representation at appeals and tribunals; and providing budgeting advice.

This post is currently funded until 31st December 2024; and will report to the Senior Adviser.

Income Maximisation & Budgeting Adviser

Operating within the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers – A Quality Assurance Framework, as an accredited provider, Stirling Council’s Money, Debt & Benefits Team promotes the financial inclusion of clients. Providing direct money, debt and benefits advice; giving people the knowledge, tools and confidence to be able to resolve matters themselves; or provide specialist advice and support to implement the advice; and make referrals to other complementary services when further help is required for additional support needs. The team:

  • Work towards the alleviation of hardship and disadvantage by providing information, advice and assistance on money, debt and related issues.
  • Promote the financial well being of citizens in Stirling.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and interventions to reduce financial exclusion in Stirling.

Multiply Stirling is a new community based numeracy programme funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aiming to build the numeracy capacity of people across targeted areas and within targeted groups across Stirling.

Multiply Stirling is a new community based numeracy programme funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aiming to build the numeracy capacity of people across targeted areas and within targeted groups across Stirling.

The successful candidate will work alongside an existing adviser, carrying out full benefits checks, supporting clients to apply for any identified benefits and/or charitable grants, support clients to challenge benefit decisions and provide budgeting advice; to ensure the most effective service delivery to clients. You will also co-design and deliver a range of interventions including basic adult numeracy opportunities.

You will also work in partnership with a range of organisations delivering programmes funded through the Stirling Multiply Challenge fund, as well as working closely with two Multiply Development Officers who form part of Stirling Multiply approach.

The Adviser will be based in 4 GP Practices across the Stirling area and will provide advice and support to Stirling residents by: completing benefit checks for clients; supporting clients to fully maximise their income, through applying for welfare benefits and charitable grants; and providing advice on managing household budgets.

This post is currently funded for 2 years and will report to the Advice Services and Welfare Reform Team Leader.
