Are you passionate about Housing and ending Homelessness?
Shelter Scotland helps half a million people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
Do you want to use your content design skills to help people understand and act on their housing rights? Join Shelter Scotland as our Content Designer and play a key role in creating clear, accessible and user-centred digital content that helps people navigate the housing emergency with confidence.
About the role
As our Content Designer, you’ll create clear, reliable and people-first digital content that helps users navigate their housing rights with confidence. You’ll take part in research and discovery to ensure we design and maintain accessible content. You’ll work with colleagues in an agile team to test, publish and continually improve digital advice and supporter content. You’ll champion the needs of users, provide constructive feedback to other content designers, and use evidence and insight to influence decisions across Shelter Scotland.
Role specifics
You’ll have experience of communicating complex information clearly and producing high-quality, accurate content, ideally including online advice. You’ll be confident researching, analysing and translating complex information into accessible content, with familiarity with content design and creating user journeys that help people understand their options and take action.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.
About the team
This role sits in our Digital function in the Communications and Engagement team and is a key role in ensuring that our online housing rights information fully supports our strategic goal to strengthen and enforce the right to a safe home for all.
The team is tasked with creating and delivering user needs focused, high-quality, user-friendly digital content on the Shelter Scotland website. The content must be of an exceptional standard, ensuring people who see it are reassured and confident about what they need to do next to fight the housing emergency.
