Who are we and what do we do? Early Years Scotland is Scotland’s leading national Third Sector specialist organisation that supports our youngest children from birth to 5 years of age. Our fully qualified early years staff work directly with children and their families to deliver our unique Stay Play and Learn sessions in a variety of settings including nurseries, community halls, schools and prisons. We work increasingly in prisons, and areas where there are children and families who have the greatest need, and will benefit most from our services. We have been established for over 50 years, and we are very proud of our long and ever-growing track record in supporting Scotland’s youngest children to have the very best start in life.

Family Engagement Practitioners - HENRY Programme

We are recruiting three Family Engagement Practitioners to support the delivery of our HENRY and Community Programmes. The specific location and focus of each post will vary and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Family Engagement Practitioner (HENRY Programme):

Full Time, 35 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum

Starting salary £26,199 FTE

Family Engagement Practitioner (West Dunbartonshire):

Part Time, 21 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum

Starting salary £26,199 FTE (pro rata £15,719.40)

Family Engagement Practitioner (HENRY/Community):

Part Time, 28 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum

Starting salary £26,199 FTE (pro rata £20,959.20)

Family Engagement Practitioner (Creating Caring Connections):

Full Time, 35 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum

Starting salary £26,199 FTE

This role is suited to practitioners skilled and experienced in supporting children with additional support needs

Early Years Scotland deliver the HENRY Programme across seven local authorities: Glasgow South, Glasgow North West, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

All post are fixed term contracts to 31 March 2027, subject to continued funding. Additional funding is expected but not confirmed.

Key Responsibilities

Family Engagement Practitioners with Early Years Scotland play a vital role in supporting parents/carers and children together. You will deliver the evidence-based HENRY group programme, using structured session materials with confidence and fidelity.

Working alongside a colleague, you will create welcoming, supportive group environments that help families build:

  • positive attachments and relationships
  • early communication and shared learning
  • healthy routines and wellbeing practices
  • nurturing home learning environments

A typical week may include:

  • delivering a health-based programme to parents/carers
  • engaging with families across community venues, nurseries, and schools

You will be fully supported with professional learning, reflective supervision, and opportunities to shape and evaluate the programmes you deliver.

Qualifications

Applicants’ qualifications must be consistent with those required to register as a Practitioner with SSSC, e.g.:

  • HNC Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7
  • SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7
  • Additional ELC qualifications welcomed
  • Experience working with children aged 0–12 and their families is essential. Confidence in group facilitation and delivering structured programme content is highly desirable.

PVG Scheme membership will be required.

Family Engagement Practitioner (Renfrewshire):

  • Part Time, 30 hours per week (£22,456 per annum pro rata)). Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 2.30pm plus 5 flexible hours per week
  • Part Time, 25 hours per week (£18,713 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm

Family Engagement Practitioner (West Dunbartonshire):

  • Part Time, 30 hours per week (£22,456 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm with additional flexible 5 hours
  • Part Time, 25 hours per week (£18,713 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm

Family Engagement Practitioner (North Lanarkshire):

  • Part Time, 30 hours per week (£22,456 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm plus 5 flexible hours per week
  • Part Time, 25 hours per week (£18,713 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm

Family Engagement Practitioner (Glasgow Knightswood):

  • Part Time, 20 hours per week (£14,971 per annum pro rata). Tuesday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm

Family Engagement Practitioner (Glasgow Ruchill):

  • Part Time, 30 hours per week (£22,456 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm plus 5 flexible hours per week
  • Part Time, 25 hours per week (£18,713 per annum pro rata). Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm

Key Responsibilities

Family Engagement Practitioners (FEPs) with Early Years Scotland (EYS) have a unique, exciting role within the early years sector. An EYS Family Engagement Practitioner has responsibility for providing support and promoting parental engagement and a whole family wellbeing service through the adoption of a multi-agency collaborative approach.

Our EYS staff team work together with children and families on a continual basis, across a variety of settings within communities with a focus on enriching and enhancing parental skills and capacity to improve, strengthen and maximise:

  • positive attachments and relationships between parents/carers and children
  • early literacy and communication skills
  • shared interactions and approaches to learning
  • cost-free, enriching and nurturing home learning environments
  • healthy living approaches
  • support for entitlements
  • meaningful transitions

You will be fully involved in shaping, developing, and evaluating our programmes and innovative shared play and learning sessions you deliver.
