The Hearing Voices Network Dundee (HaVeN) is a registered charity which provides a HaVeN for those who hear voices, as well as those in the community who experience mental health issues. The HaVeN is a drop-in centre as well as a community café which is based in the Hilltown area of the city, offering one to one support and a variety of groups which are run and supported by volunteers.

What we do:

The Hearing Voices Network Dundee seeks to inspire hope and promote empowerment for Voice-Hearers, their friends and families. We have a drop-in service which is open to all. No referral is needed to access the services and support that we provide. We offer support, advice, volunteering opportunities, befriending, peer2peer, training and have a community café on site. We work closely with other organisations in our community to ensure that we remain up to date and are able provide creative support solutions to our service users and the community around us.

Key responsibilities:

The Treasurer will oversee the monitoring of the organisation’s finances on behalf of the whole board of trustees, to report regularly on them to the board and to make sure that money is properly managed. They will ensure that bookkeeping, record keeping, and budgeting are done accurately. This includes:

• Ensuring proper systems are in place for budgeting, financial control, and reporting.

• Keeping all trustees properly informed about the state of the organisation’s finances.

• Ensuring financial reports to the trustees are comprehensible and properly discussed.

• Ensuring accounts and other financial reports are produced in the proper form and on time as

required by other bodies.

• Overseeing the appointment and communications with auditors or independent examiners,

according to legal requirements.

• Monitor the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources

• Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health.

• Act as a counter signatory for online banking and applications to funders.

This is a voluntary role; however reasonable expenses will be paid.

The Board of trustees currently meet up to eight times per year. Our meetings are currently a mixture of in-person and virtual.

The Support Worker is responsible for providing support and assistance to voice hearers and individuals living with mental health problems within the community. The role requires the postholder to work collaboratively with mental health professionals and clients to help them manage their conditions, improve their quality of life, and achieve their personal goals. The majority of your work will be undertaken with our community hub in the Hilltown area of Dundee.

The Office Coordinator for the Hearing Voices Network in Dundee will manage financial activities, generate reports, and manage data collection. They postholder will also manage office operations, including paperwork and staff rotas, and assist with funding applications. The role requires financial management skills, experience with financial operating systems (e.g. SAGE) and be able to manage competing priorities in a busy office environment. Trustee duties:

As a Trustee, we would like you to:

- Be passionate about the organisation and its mission;

- Support the strategic direction of the organisation;

- Work with other Trustee’s to ensure that Board decisions are made within governance frameworks;

- Be involved in sub-committees where possible;

- Provide assistance and support to the organisation;

- Act in good faith and only in the interests of the organisation.

We welcome people from any background however are particularly interested in hearing from people who would be willing to take on the Secretary role or have a background in one of the following areas:

- Mental health;

- Nursing;

- Digital and social media;

- Marketing.

Volunteer Coordinator

Hearing Voices Network Dundee aims to provide support to individuals to improve their health & wellbeing through the provision of a volunteer run community café & information point.

We are currently looking for an experienced Volunteer Coordinator to work alongside the Learning and Development Officer to highlight any learning requirements of Volunteers and Service Users. This role is crucial in ensuring the needs of Service Users are at the heart of our services and will require someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team and ability to report required information within deadlines.

The successful candidate will have experience of recruiting, inducting, training and supporting volunteers. A Qualification in Social Care, Mental Health or Psychology Alternatively, can demonstrate relative experience. Previous experience of training vulnerable adults or people with additional support needs is essential.
