Getting Better Together Ltd (GBT) is a community centred health initiative which was established in 2000 with the aim of promoting the health & wellbeing of residents living in North Lanarkshire including the Fortissat Ward, Shotts, Springhill, Dykehead, Stane, Torbothie, Harthill, Eastfield, Salsburgh, Allanton/Hartwood.At the heart of Shotts, GBT's Healthy Living Centre was established twenty-three years ago.

Since its creation 2000, GBT has become a leader in the arena of community led health improvement with a record of success delivering high quality, effective community-led health improvement services. It is a successful, respected organisation widely recognised by statutory, voluntary sector partners and the individuals we work with.

Over the last 23 years, Getting Better Together has witnessed the sort of transformations normally reserved for feel good films. At GBT, sports, exercise, healthy eating, and other community participatory activities aren’t just about improving health, they’re turning people’s lives around, transforming stereotypes and giving our community opportunities they were previously excluded from.

GBT are a courageous organisation, pushing boundaries and challenging ingrained perceptions about what it means to be healthy. Our success has shown that wellbeing is not wholly dependent on how financially well off you are: Everything GBT does is inspired and informed by the practical needs of the people on our doorstep.

We now have vacancy for a full time (35 Hrs) Cycle Development Officer. The main aim of the role is to oversee and develop the Trackside Bikes at GBT. This programme includes a range of cycling services within our Trackside Bike shop including bike repairs, services, loans, and educational offerings.

Acting as an ambassador for cycling and active travel in North Lanarkshire you will work closely with the staff team, GBT, key local stakeholders and the wider community to promote the benefits of cycling.

We now have vacancy for a part time (21 Hrs) Cycle Development Officer. The main aim of the role is to oversee and develop the Trackside Bikes at GBT. This programme includes a range of cycling services within our Trackside Bike shop including bike repairs, services, loans, and educational offerings. You will be responsible for the management and development of a cycle staff team, including direct line management responsibilities for the team.

Acting as an ambassador for cycling and active travel in North Lanarkshire you will work closely with the staff team, GBT, key local stakeholders and the wider community to promote the benefits of cycling.

We now have vacancy for a part time (24 Hrs) Community Health Improvement Officer. The postholder will support individuals to build personal resilience in self-managing their health and wellbeing through assessment and review of individual needs, development of individual wellbeing plans, and motivating behavioural change.

Working closely with Community Health Improvement Lead you will be assisting in the promotion of new services.

At the heart of Shotts, GBT's Healthy Living Centre was established twenty years ago. Today, from birth to the elderly, we work with people of all ages and have the support of our local partners and funders to deliver the activities which best meet our community's aims and objectives. The GBT board is made up of local directors, and we have over thirty staff and forty volunteers.

We now have vacancy for a part time (25 Hrs) Cycle Support Worker. The main aim of the role is to support the Get Active – Get Going team in all its cycle development work with a primary focus on delivering their bike repairs and refurbishment services, often alongside young people. The role will also require flexibility to support the wider organisation where required.

The postholder will work closely with the cycle development team to deliver a low-cost bike refurbishment and customer repairs service to the local community which will reflect the aims of Get Active – Get Going programme.

The postholder will be required to work with the local high school as part of a programme to help pupils gain knowledge in cycle mechanics which will lead to increased educational attainment and help lead them to positive destinations.

Employed to support the development and implementation of the Visitor Centre and Family Time work plan. Visitor Centre staff are committed to working with families, community, and voluntary sector partners to maintain meaningful contact between prisoners and their families throughout the period of imprisonment.

This is a new and exciting role within the organisation to support unpaid carers with the creation of a new Sitter and Carer Connector Service to allow unpaid carers some respite from their caring role. You will support GBT in the design and delivery of a test of change for our proposed carer services.
