Due to re-organisation, we are seeking to recruit a Young People’s Sensory Service Co-ordinator.
You will bring imagination, enthusiasm and leadership to NESS’s highly successful Young People’s Sensory Service (YPSS), delivering activities for young people who have vision and/or hearing loss in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire & Moray, helping them build confidence, independence and ambition.
You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SVQ level 3 or above and have a minimum of two years’ experience working with young people in a professional capacity.
Based in Aberdeen, this is a Grampian-wide post which is partly funded by BBC Children in Need and The National Lottery’s Young Start programme.

Our highly successful ICT for All service enables people with serious sensory loss to identify their best tech solutions and then help them learn how to use them. This may involve accessing specialist equipment or software or discovering and using built-in accessibility features on generic smart devices like phones, speakers and tablets. The postholder needs to be solution-focussed and a highly motivated self-directed learner. Although based in Aberdeen, you will need to travel independently to our Elgin and Dundee resource centres regularly to see service users. As the sole operator of this service, you will frequently work on your own with service users. You will need to be able to plan and organise your own workload, be well organised and see tasks through to completion. We seek to recruit a qualified Social Worker with a minimum of two years’ experience in a senior position to lead and manage our statutory team, which includes social workers and other professionals.

You will be qualified Social Worker, registered with SSSC (or equivalent) and have an interest in working with people to reduce the barriers experienced through sensory loss
Job Purpose
To line manage social work and rehabilitation staff based at the Dundee office, carry a small caseload and to support services users to overcome the practical and emotional effects of sensory impairment
