MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE TO OUR COMMUNITY

We’re recruiting a Development Manager!

Turn local ambition into lasting community impact

We’ve secured £3.5 million towards our proposed £6 million Community Hub, raised £430,000 for our free-to-use Community Pump Track, and own and manage three community woodlands. Now we’re ready for our next chapter.

Dalgety Community Trust is seeking an ambitious, resourceful Development Manager to help unlock funding, develop community assets, build partnerships and create lasting benefits for Dalgety Bay, Hillend and the surrounding area.

As our first employee, you’ll work closely with trustees, volunteers and local partners to turn big ideas into practical results and build a stronger, more sustainable charity.

What will you do?

  • Secure funding and grow income: Develop funding opportunities, lead applications and build relationships with funders, businesses and public-sector partners.
  • Develop projects and assets: Progress our Community Hub, Pump Track and other community assets, creating sustainable plans for their future.
  • Strengthen the organisation: Turn strategic priorities into action, improve systems and governance, and build long-term financial resilience.
  • Inspire community involvement: Support volunteers, develop local leadership and strengthen relationships with residents and community organisations.
  • Plan for lasting impact: Build strategic partnerships, demonstrate our social and environmental impact, and shape our long-term income strategy and future plans.

What are we looking for?

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in fundraising, income generation, business development or securing resources.
  • Strong project management, organisational and financial skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • The initiative to work independently, solve problems and turn plans into action.

Experience in charities, community development, grant funding, capital projects, asset management or volunteer development would be an advantage. Relevant experience and transferable skills matter more than formal qualifications.

Above all, you’ll be proactive, approachable and motivated by making a genuine difference. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

What we offer

  • £35,000 annual salary, plus up to £2,000 discretionary performance-related payment.
  • 36-hour working week with home-based, but with a requirement to be active in the community including some evening and weekend work.
  • Annual leave of 25 days in Year 1, rising to 28 days in Year 2 and 30 days in Year 3, plus public holidays.
  • 3% employer pension contribution, IT equipment, telephone and reasonable work-related travel expenses.
  • The opportunity to shape a growing charity and leave a lasting community legacy.

The appointment: January 2027–December 2029 is the planned programme. The initial appointment is for one year, with continuation into Years 2 and 3, dependent on securing further funding. Regular community engagement is essential, with some evening and weekend work.
