This a new initiative that My Support Day is developing and collaborating with The Beacons. The project called “Family Days” will be based within the South Lanarkshire Beacons. The project’s focal point will be on a whole family approach threading education throughout, adapting to individual/family needs. Identifying a gap in services working with families affected by substance use; particularly with children/young people that have been affected by someone else’s substance use has highlighted the importance to create work with partners in education, focusing on early intervention and prevention around children and families.

The Family Days sessions will be a safe, supportive, and productive family meetup time, out of school hours to assist children / young people in completing their homework and or to provide extra support where required. Family Days will provide vital support for children who do not otherwise have the help that they need. My Support Day will focus on vital family support via 1:1 support, group setting and focus on education and information sessions in a trauma informed, psychological and nurturing environment addressing trauma and the impact for those affected by someone else’s substance use.

The Family Co-ordinator will lead on developing, co-ordinating and supporting activities of My Support Day’s Family Days and to further develop and enhance the service provided to meet the needs of families that have been affected by someone else’s substance use to engaged with Family Days sessions.

My Support Day is a charity based within South Lanarkshire which supports families and loved ones who have been affected by someone else’s substance use. The support is person cantered, and individuals are supported via 1:1, support group both face to face and online.

My Support Day is in partnership with Liber8 to deliver a new commissioned South Lanarkshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (SL ADP) service FREE – Family Recovery Everyone Everywhere. This service is based across South Lanarkshire to access one-to-one support, group support, learning and development and events for the whole family. This service will also offer counselling, mediation and therapeutic services to Individuals using the service which can tailor their support to suit their needs.

My support Day is seeking to recruit a Project Lead for the new FREE Service who can effectively make plans that support project goals and lead the team to perform efficiently. They will work diligently to keep their team engaged, motivated, and focused on the task at hand whilst working in line with not only local but also national strategy with focus to embedding a Whole Family Approach and Family Inclusive Practice throughout South Lanarkshire Community. To achieve this the Project Lead will ensure that staff and volunteers go through a comprehensive training to enable a high quality of support given to families and individual that have been affected by someone else’s substance use. The Project Lead will be responsible for raising awareness of the new FREE Service and working collaboratively with the South Lanarkshire families and individuals, community members, statutory services, third sector organisations.
