The Fair Isle Development Company was established in 2015, as a response to growing community concern regarding the sustainability of the island and its future. In common with the aspirations of many small island communities the initial aims of the development company were to stimulate sustainable demographic growth supported by good employment opportunities, good services, facilities and affordable housing. Going forward it is hoped that FIDC will function as a focus for the administration of community projects and a vehicle to manage assets on behalf of the community and to act as a community voice when working with external stakeholders.
