East Renfrewshire Carers’ Centre are looking to employ Young Carer’s Sessional Staff. This post will work with young carers providing practical and emotional support on an individual and group basis.
Hours will vary depending on activities of the groups, individual work, training, and meetings, as and when required. The post involves travel as the groups regularly use facilities elsewhere. Work will be out with normal office hours, including evening and some weekends.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
East Renfrewshire Carers’ Centre have received funding from BBC Children in Need to employ a Young Carer’s Support Worker. This post will work with young carers providing practical and emotional support on an individual and group basis.
The worker will be responsible for working with young carers to identify their support needs and work with partner agencies to ensure that the caring role does not have a negative impact on the young carers’ life.
The post-holder will be expected to work the 35 hours flexibly across the week to meet the needs of the service with a significant amount of time spent working after school and in the evening. The post-holder will be expected to work in venues across East Renfrewshire enabling the highest levels of access for young carers.

To develop the Centre’s online presence to support carers across East Renfrewshire. Develop and continually update the Centre’s website and social media presence, working with colleagues to provide accurate and timely advice and information.
Respond to any queries for carers support received via our online activities.
Develop an online self-assessment tool and the opportunity for carers to provide feedback, suggestions and ask for help and lead on the annual survey of carers
Promote all the Centre’s activities and opportunities for carers to get involved in engagement, planning and evaluation
Work with the Administrator and Short Breaks Worker to promote the Carers’ Card and related discounts available to carers.
To promote, develop and evaluate short breaks for carers in East Renfrewshire. Lead on the Centre’s Short Break Information and opportunities including Respitality and Carers Discount Card and also our Time to Live Funding Stream.
Work with carers to identify short break opportunities and funding that develop short break opportunities that meet the needs of carers.
To assist carers with planning short breaks and work with all partners including Health and Social Care Partnership to increase the awareness and entitlement to short breaks support in line with local eligibility criteria.
Ensure short breaks funding is spent in line with guidelines and complete all evaluation reports required by funders.
To provide a range of emotional and practical support to carers including information, advice, and training. You will carry out Adult Carer Support Plans and lead on the Centre’s support to carers of someone with a dementia diagnosis.
Work with Health & Social Care Partnership and other stakeholder organisations to provide a holistic and comprehensive package of support to adult carers.
