Role
Save the Children UK is looking for an individual with People, Culture and Organisational change/Transformation experience to join us as our Trustee and Chair of the People Committee.
You will work closely with the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive, and the Executive Leadership Team to help shape and champion our transformation journey, ensuring our people, culture, and organisational design enable us to deliver lasting impact for children.

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional individual to serve as the lead Trustee on our Board for all things People, Culture, Change and Business Transformation.
Save the Children UK is in the middle of a revised organisational strategy reshaping how we work to drive deeper, lasting outcomes for children. We are undoing internal bureaucracy, reimagining partnerships, clarifying our service offers and flattening our internal layers. We are keen on unlocking Agile as a philosophy to become more autonomous, accountable, and human-centred. Over the coming years, we aim to embed meaningful child participation, raise more flexible funding for local leaders, and champion greater power and resources for communities. And we will develop as an organisation that is lighter, more joyful, and more human-centric to create deeper impact.
All of the above is already underway through programmes and plans. We are looking for a Board member to champion the transformation work that is happening within the organisation and within the People team. You will be a trusted sounding board, a challenger who helps us raise our game, and a “lighthouse” for our vision for change.
You could be a current or former Chief People, Transformation, Effectiveness or Innovation Officer, a consultant, or an academic in management thinking - someone with deep expertise in helping organisations make positive, sustainable, and long-lasting change so that they deliver better on their purpose.
As Trustee, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight and governance on People, Culture, and Organisational Effectiveness matters as Chair of the People Committee.
- Champion our transformation agenda, bringing insight and challenge on how to build a more agile, empowered, and joyful organisation.
- Act as a sounding board to the Chief Executive and Executive Team, providing constructive challenge and support on people and culture priorities.
- Ensure alignment between SCUK's transformation goals and our broader strategic ambition to deliver deeper outcomes for children.
- Uphold the highest standards of governance, compliance, safeguarding, and accountability as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Represent SCUK at key events and act as an ambassador for our values and mission.
About You
We are seeking a Trustee who:
- Is engaged with, and excited by, SCUK's vision, mission and values.
- Is a strategic thinker, with demonstrable and deep expertise in People and Culture matters and organisational management.
- Has a strong track record in successfully designing and delivering strategic and holistic organisational change.
- Has experience leading multi-phased people, culture and effectiveness programmes that have delivered measurable results for the organisation.
- Has deep understanding of, and can champion, Agile and agile ways of working.
- Chairs meetings effectively, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Will work to guarantee the highest standards of integrity and governance, and help ensure statutory requirements are met.
- Is able and willing to devote the necessary time to the role (see below).
- A demonstrable commitment to championing diversity and inclusion, and a clear understanding of power, privilege, and how this affects everyone, particularly the children and communities with which we work.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the duties, liabilities and responsibilities of Trustees, and of the difference between governance and management functions; and corporate governance issues, especially those that might affect a large international not-for-profit organisation.
Other highly desirable experience
- A good understanding of child poverty in the UK, and an interest in international affairs.
- Experience with digital innovation and technology-enabled transformation.
- Willingness to build and use networks to make introductions for SCUK, for example to explore best practice in or facilitate fundraising, or advocacy and campaigning.

Additional Information / Terms of Appointment
- This is a voluntary position, with reasonable expenses covered. We want to do what we can to remove barriers for Trustees on low incomes or with little spare. Please let us know during the application process if this could be an issue for you, so that we can explore options together.
- Trustees are required to attend all Board meetings (four Board meetings and one or more Board calls per year), and for this role, quarterly People Committee meetings. You may also be asked to join an additional committee. Trustees may also be asked to participate in Board strategy days, telephone conferences, or travel on behalf of SCUK.
- Meetings are held at SCUK's Head Office in Farringdon, London, with hybrid participation possible.
- Trustees are appointed for an initial term of 2 years, after which Trustees can be reappointed for two further terms of 3 years each, up to a maximum of 8 years.

About us:
Home-Start offers guidance, friendship and practical support to families across Clackmannanshire who have at least one child under the age of twelve. We work with families to help them overcome issues impacting their lives, through a range of family support services. Our families are each unique, however common issues we support include: isolation and loneliness, mental health difficulties, bereavement, family breakdown, addiction, and physical ill-health. We’ve been supporting local families across Clackmannanshire since 1988. The role of our trustees:
Charity trustees are responsible – and accountable - for the governance and strategy of their charity. They are responsible for making sure that their charity is administered effectively and can account for its activities and outcomes.
As a trustee on our board, you will contribute to:
1. Providing leadership and direction within the ethos of Home-Start.
2. Ensuring the scheme has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction.
3. Being responsible for the effective performance and management of the scheme.
4. Ensuring the scheme complies with legal and regulatory requirements, the objects of the scheme, the governing documents including the Home-Start Standards and Methods of Practice, the Home-Start Agreement and quality standards.
5. Securing and guarding the scheme’s assets and taking care of their security, deployment, and proper application.
6. Ensuring that the scheme’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
7. Undertaking an ambassadorial role for the scheme.
8. Appointing sub-committees and agreeing their terms of reference and membership.
Time Commitment:
Our board meets every 7-8 weeks, a hybrid approach where trustees can attend in-person meetings at our offices in Alloa or via Teams. Our offices are fully accessible.
As a trustee, you would also attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) once a year.
Support:
Volunteers are the heart of Home-Start, and so in return for your time and commitment, you will be fully supported in role by our Chair. A full induction will be provided, and opportunities for both training and networking are also available.

About the role
We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and who is a real team player to join our Regional Fundraising team.
You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals to groups and local corporates.
This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.
North & East Scotland is an area filled with some of our most committed supporters but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from hospitals across the region, and our Home from Home, ‘Ciaran’s House’ in Edinburgh, so building relationships with these teams are a must.
Candidates should live within North & East Scotland in one of the following Postcodes: AB, DD, EH, KY, PH, IV. We may also consider applications from candidates living in FK, G or ML postcodes. What will I be doing?
No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in our Role Details document.
- To steward our most committed supporters and deliver legendary supporter experience
- To be the first point of contact for service user families, to offer opportunities to them and their networks to engage with the wider charity as they would like I.e. fundraising, volunteering, sharing their story
- To work with your local service team/s to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships
- To identify, cultivate and secure partnerships and donations within your area
- To plan, monitor and report on your budgeted income with a constant eye on contingency planning to ensure annual targets are achieved
- To be a key, valued member of your regional team and UK wide team.
What do I need?
- A proven track record of delivering amazing customer experiences
- Experience of relationship management in either a charity or corporate setting
- Able to ‘make the ask’ for support and to influence/negotiate
- Demonstrable experience of winning new business
- Ability to work within a financial target-based setting, and experience of reaching/exceeding set targets
- Experience of managing own workload
- Proven ability to manage/complete projects
- Have a full UK driving licence and access to a car (including business insurance)
- Have a sufficient Broadband connection

About Aberlour Options Fife - Respite and Outreach
Options Fife Respite and Outreach provides a range of flexible support through outreach and overnight short breaks at weekends, evenings and school holidays to children and young people with complex learning disabilities and autism. We offer a high-quality child centred service providing positive and enabling experiences for the young people, supporting them through the challenges and complexities that enable them to work towards their individual outcomes and personal goals. We work closely with families and other professionals in providing support tailored around the child’s plan.
What we are looking for....
We are looking to recruit two Young People’s Workers, to work 25.27 and another for 24 hours per week on a rolling residential rota including evenings and weekends. The roles cover outreach and short break services. Hours are annualised as the outreach service is open 50 weeks per year and short breaks is open all year round. It is expected you will work 33 hours one week and 18 hours the next week for the 25.27 hour post. And 30 hours one week and 18 hours the next week for the 24 hour post. You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possible experience in working towards their objectives in line with their care plan, supporting children to progress within their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal, and emotional care. We support young people who have epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, in conjunction with NHS, provides all staff with training.

It is desired but not essential that candidates hold a relevant qualification at an SCQF level 7 or above.
