Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS) is seeking a motivated and experienced Employability Coordinator to join our team. This exciting role will coordinate and deliver GCVS’ programmes around employability, primarily projects focused on creating paid and unpaid opportunities within the third sector for people to develop their employability skills. The postholder will also form part of the wider Workforce Development team and will be required to support other work within the team.

Paid Work Placements is funded by the Scottish Government through Glasgow City Council on behalf of Glasgow Futures Local Employability Partnership. The programme is delivered by GCVS with partners Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Enable Scotland, CEMVO Scotland, and Move On.

Partnerships and Communities

Our Partnerships and Communities Group are responsible for our work with the third sector, partners and communities across Dumfries and Galloway. The group leads on community insights and involvement, Locality Hubs, sector advice, training and development, building sector capacity, encouraging community involvement and representing the third sector. Key partnerships are with Dumfries and Galloway Council, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Community Planning, Scottish Government and national sector bodies. The team includes Lead Officers, Development Officers, Support Officers, Coordinators and professional advisors.

GCVS plays a pivotal role in supporting Glasgow’s voluntary sector to engage with public sector partners, contribute to policy development, and design and deliver services that benefit the citizens of Glasgow. The Role:

As Development Officer, you will support the Partnership & Engagement Manager by:

• Facilitating strong engagement between third sector organisations and public sector partners to address child poverty and related challenges.

• Supporting the sector’s contribution to Glasgow’s response to key initiatives, including The Promise, GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child), and Whole Family Support, which connects to the work of the Children’s Services Planning Partnership.

• Assisting in identifying and addressing barriers faced by families and children, particularly in areas such as child poverty, child protection, as well as mental and physical health and wellbeing.

• Organising meetings, workshops, and consultations to ensure third sector perspectives are represented in policy discussions.

• Developing resources, briefings, and reports to support knowledge-sharing and capacity building within the sector.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A strong commitment to tackling child poverty and promoting human rights.

• Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• An understanding of the third sector’s role in addressing social issues (experience in the field is desirable but not essential).

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

• A collaborative and solution-focused approach, demonstrating integrity and alignment with GCVS values.

Principle Responsibilities

To work within communities to maintain and build relationships with the wide range of third sector organisations/groups thriving and developing in Clackmannanshire, with particular emphasis on supporting the Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Strategic Commissioning Plan 2023-2033, to enable people in both areas to live full, healthy and positive lives.

Support the work to build relationships between key stakeholders such as statutory partners and community organisations, to support collaboration and partnership in health and social care initiatives and achieve improved outcomes for the people of Clackmannanshire.
