Your Role as Finance and Administration Manager

Based in our National Office in Glasgow City Centre, you’ll oversee the financial and administrative activities that keep our mission thriving. As a key contact for local conferences and Diocesan Councils across Scotland, you’ll ensure they have the support they need to continue transforming lives.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll handle a mix of financial, administrative, and training duties:

• Manage payments to suppliers and partners in India and South Africa.
• Oversee salary payments, pensions, and tax deductions for staff.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and manage the debtors ledger.
• Develop and monitor budgets, prepare management accounts, and manage year-end financial reports.
• Train and support members on book-keeping processes at the local and diocesan levels.
• Provide administrative support and assist with National Office events throughout the year.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• A part qualified accountant with a minimum of HND in Business (Accounting/Finance) or a related field.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in accounts and finance-based roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of Sage preferred
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• A self-motivated team player with a passion for supporting positive change.

Desirable Skills:

• Charity sector experience.
• Knowledge of website maintenance and business-oriented social media use.
• Familiarity with Christian theology and Vincentian spirituality.

Additional Information

Are you passionate about enhancing employability and supporting Glasgow’s third sector to create meaningful change? Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS) is seeking a motivated and experienced Employability Coordinator to join our team. This exciting role will coordinate and deliver GCVS’ programmes around employability, primarily projects focused on creating paid and unpaid opportunities within the third sector for people to develop their employability skills. The postholder will also form part of the wider Workforce Development team and will be required to support other work within the team.

Paid Work Placements is funded by the Scottish Government through Glasgow City Council on behalf of Glasgow Futures Local Employability Partnership. The programme is delivered by GCVS with partners Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Enable Scotland, CEMVO Scotland, and Move On.

Due to career progression, we have opportunities for colleagues to join our team. As a Supervising Social Worker, you are the key link for our foster carers with local authorities, and will ensure quality of care for children and young people; identifying positive matches providing support, supervision and development opportunities for foster carers as appropriate. Your role is not only working with our foster carers as you will also link in with children and young people – checking in with them regularly to ensure their view and wishes are being heard and they are supported to achieve positive outcomes and are happy, safe and feel loved.

As a service we continue to grow, and your role will also allow for supporting potential foster carer applicants; building relationships with them as they progress from pre-approval training through their assessment as foster carers.

A typical week

Our team are located across Scotland. Our full-time roles will typically support a caseload of 12 of our amazing fostering families (reduced accordingly dependent on hours). Most of your time will be spent working remotely, however at times there will be travel to our office base in Falkirk for team and other meetings including our fostering panels – all with advance notice and planning. There are also opportunities to support learning, support groups and assessments.

Our carers consistently share that they value the relationships they have with the staff team, particularly their supervising social worker. The flexibility of working with Care Visions Fostering ensures that our team can provide excellent support to our fostering families, while managing their own diary. Our full-time team members generally work their hours Monday to Friday during core office hours. We hold our fostering panels on a Monday, and part-time colleagues ensure they can support this. We provide out of hours on call telephone support (incl. weekends) and our SSWs support this on an 8-weekly rota basis (supported by a manager) with an additional daily payment in respect of this.

Who we are looking for

We would love to work with someone who is a proactive team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly, and independently. You must have a good working knowledge of child protection procedures, legislation, and regulations in relation to looked after children and fostering. A good working knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing children, their birth parents and foster carers is key, as well as excellent report writing and assessment skills. Experience of assessing prospective foster carers would be advantageous.

• Degree in Social Work or relevant qualification in the field, such as DipSW, CQSW. (essential)
• Registered with the Social Services Council, or other British equivalent along with PVG scheme membership, Solid experience in fieldwork, residential or in a family placement setting
• A full driving license and use of car (travel will be required).

Who we are:

Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity, with 120 staff and 2,200 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

Our Ministry at the Margins strategy seeks to develop ministry with young people in some of Scotland’s poorest communities in the form of local youth projects. Initially our focus is on Glasgow and Merkinch, a priority community in Inverness as well as considering possible locations in other parts of Scotland. These projects will be rooted in Christian faith and values where young people will be valued, supported and enabled to make healthy and supportive choices.

Building on some initial research undertaken by a consultancy agency, we are seeking someone who will initially be responsible for developing opportunities in priority communities within the city of Glasgow. We want to build a realistic picture of these communities, mapping ongoing work with children and young people by churches and both Christian and secular agencies as well as considering the potential for a ‘hub’, bringing local Christians together, to be created. The outcome of this will be a clear recommendation of where SU Scotland should invest in establishing a local youth project(s).

Purpose:

Reporting to the Director of Development and Holidays, the Local Youth Projects Development Coordinator will take this project to the next stage: mapping and meeting with stakeholders in an initial 2-3 communities leading to a next steps proposal to grow a Local Youth Project in at least two of those areas.

Who we are looking for:

You will have experience of working with young people in priority areas and an understanding of issues affecting them. You will have strong relational skills, being able to create and establish networks with a broad range of people. It is essential that you have strong communication and presentation skills in order to deliver in a variety of settings (churches, voluntary organisations, young people).
