Role

Anas Sarwar MSP is looking for a Parliamentary Assistant to join his team on a full-time, permanent basis based between Holyrood and Glasgow. As a Parliamentary Assistant, you will assist with the day-to-day operations of a busy MSP’s office. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in parliamentary processes, administrative tasks and contributing to the work of Anas Sarwar MSP in serving his constituents and shaping public policy.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general office administration and acting as front of office for enquiries.

o Overseeing all administrative procedures, ensuring documents are easily retrievable.

o Responding to all incoming correspondence while professionally managing each enquiry within agreed timescales.

o Coordinating, tracking and monitoring the handling of enquiries and ensuring they are dealt with timely and professionally.

o Drafting written correspondence such as letters, requests for information and parliamentary questions and motions.

o Providing support by accompanying Anas to relevant meetings, capturing key discussion points, and delegating follow-up actions to appropriate colleagues.

o Supporting with diary coordination including organising meetings and maintaining an up-to-date calendar.

• Maintaining office records and compliance with data protection.

o Maintaining filing system and managing records.

o Ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and GDPR requirements.

o Ensuring administrative and secretarial support is provided.

Requirements

• Have excellent written, verbal and IT skills with accurate attention to detail.

• Be empathetic with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

• Have a flexible and adaptable approach, being able to use good judgement and work on own initiative.

• Be well organised with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.

• Have the ability to foster good working relationships with confidence to understand how the media world operates.

• Be a proactive problem solver with the motivation and resilience to adapt and deal with challenges.

• A full driving licence would be advantageous to support Anas in attending events and meetings across the region.
